    Randy's RCR40 MKI

I have pretty much finished the brake lines. I was having some questions about routing the rear flex lines. The rear straight out of the tub bulkhead fittings are pointed just to front of the coil overs. Too close for my comfort level. A friend suggested using Adel clamps on the top of the...

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Paul, The ones that came from RCR are 12 degree. The ones from Speedway are 26 degree and the ones from QA1 are 55 degree (might be 58). 26 degrees should be more than enough and hopefully the bore tube is shorter than the 55 degree from QA1. I ordered the ones from Speedway but I won’t know if...

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Pro-1-Chromoly-Heim-Joint-Rod-Ends-5-8-18-LH-Male-1-2-Inch-Hole,29763.html I haven’t received them yet, so don’t know for sure they will work.

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Brian, I am not sure I am using the correct names. Heim, rose, rod end. Too confusing. This is what’s connected to the steering arm. It’s got 12 degrees of misalignment with a 1/2” hole and 5/8” male treads. The safety washers and other hardware is what I had available in my parts bin. I...

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Brian, I am not sure what these things are called, but this is what I am referring to. Don’t just put a wrench on that big nut and tighten. The tube it is going into must be prevented from twisting. Cheers

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

It will be a few days before I can post rack final assembly pictures. I was accidentally sent the parts bag for an SLC instead of the RCR40 (I confirmed the rack I received is the correct one). I also sent Fran my installation positioning notes for confirmation that the rack on the RCR40 should...

    GT40 MK1 Rear Taillights

I received mine. They are as advertised and the quality is good. They will look so much better than the trailer lights.

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

I need to clean up a bit. I will post tomorrow.

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Sean, My plan is to glue wood to the underside of the dash and then use screws under the dash deck to pull the dash down to the deck. This will ensure no rattling and flatten warped sections. I have not received my AC yet so don’t know exactly where to place the screws. Fortunately, I can make...

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

I got the new RCR rack installed. I asked a friend for measurements since his car was delivered with the new rack. I found that if I had used the same measurements my rack would have been off center by 5/8”, too far forward by 5/16” and too low by 3/16”. I measured stick-out on both sides when...

CAV Mk1 Replica - worth the money they are asking?

The list of parts is impressive. Could be the price reflects how much was spent on the build (probably built for, not by the owner). Guessing they spared no expense for a true race car and then realized they couldn’t drive it. The lack of carpet and molded seats says a lot about the priorities...

    Electric Water Pump How to.

Paul, it seems to me that no matter how the system is plumbed, there’s no heat until the engine is up to temp. Maybe consider an electric heater and/or seat heaters. Cheers, Randy Post in thread 'JIM C ALLOY BODIED GT40' https://www.gt40s.com/threads/jim-c-alloy-bodied-gt40.16127/post-598401...

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Lee, I am a little slow. I am sure you are right and the reference to the trans was a joke. Cheers, Randy

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Thx much for sharing guidance. If I understand correctly, you are saying that Fran said to install the power train before the steering rack. Maybe because of chassis flex?

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Hoping someone has had a chance to figure out how RCR’s new in-house steering rack is installed in an LHD RCR40. My assumption is that the center of the holes in the tub should align with the center axis of the steering rack. If that is the case then the rack needs to stand-off about 3” from...

    RCR GT40 Rear Brake Line(s)

Access to the tee is probably why it’s up front instead of at the back of the spine. All the connections in the kit that comes with the RCR40 are relatively easy to access.
