Neil, Thx much for the clarification. Is there a need for a valve on the clutch line? Cheers, Randy

    GT40 Side Mirrors

Hoping someone recognizes the mirrors on the car. They look like they might actually provide some review vision. The picture is screen shot from this YouTube video.

My understanding is that it is because the MC is below the caliper. That would result in the fluid draining and overflowing the brake reservoir. That sounds reasonable, but the kit doesn’t include one for the clutch. I wonder if adding one to that line is a good idea.

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

I ended up replacing one of the short twisty tubes. It was the piece that connects the rear brake line to the bulkhead connection that was bent to specifically fit a RHD setup. I used a bit of 3/16” Nickel Copper from the Cobra build so it was easy to bend by hand. The fittings now go together...

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

I found a nice way to ‘wrap’ the brake lines so they don’t rattle in the tunnel. I bought two inexpensive 10’ rolls of 3/16” ID x 5/16 OD polyethylene tubing at the big blue box store. I then sliced it lengthwise and ‘zipped’ it on. The slicer is one of those quick wins that made my day. I...

Recommendations for US vacation around the 60th anniversary in July 24

I also stopped by the Gilmore Museum. Just amazing. I was fortunate to have arrived on a Wednesday. Every Wednesday evening during the summer they have live music, reasonable priced food and drink, and between 300 and 700 hundred cars show up. Bill at RCR told me about it. Can’t thank him enough...

    Fan and Water Pump Controller

Ian, As always, your guidance is very helpful. I had not thought about a fan being controlled by the A/C. I will add that to my wiring. Rather than controlling one fan, I may try configure it so the A/C overrides the radiator temperature sensor so that both fans are on if the A/C is on. I had...

Best practices for keeping heat in header pipes?

Sorry, I am easily confused. Now let me see who I sent the DM to

    Fan and Water Pump Controller

I have a question regarding flow regarding the Pierburg CWA400 in my RCR40. I am considering mounting it up front, but to minimize bends, the input would be a straight shot from the upper coolant tube in the spine and the output would flow directly into the radiator. I worry the high pressure...

Best practices for keeping heat in header pipes?

Thx much. Very helpful. I had not thought about heat from the radiator. I think I will put radiant barrier on the outside of the front of the foot box and the aluminized heat barrier on the inside.

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

While I wait for the Olthoff kit, I decided to sort out the brake lines. The online build manual has cleverly labeled the brake line installation as Plumbing and has pictures from a RHD car. I thought about running the clutch and rear brake lines through the sponsons then on second thought...

    RCR wiring diagram

Brian, Thx much. Ultima GTR is a good reference and the Painless documentation makes me think I might buy their harness and ditch the Haywire. Cheers, Randy

Chris, That is excellent news. Good to know there is someone else in Austin going through the build process. Let me know if you need any assistance with body fitting, etc. Cheers, Randy

Is this the wiring harness you are referring to? Looks to be better documented than the Haywire.

I am guessing that you’re running a ZF transaxle. I don’t see anything from CNC performance that will work with the Quaife.

I am pleased with how the shifter box mods came out. The lowered and rearward slope of the box make the shifter position more comfortable. After a bit of sandblasting and powder coating it looks pretty good. Unfortunately, I will be covering my art work with a center console. Next is to figure...

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Changes were made during construction so he earlier CAD model is a bit off. This model is based on the result of my questionable fabrication efforts. DM me if interested in the STEP or Fusion 360 files.
