I thought nobody drag raced the GT40 is because they were afraid to drop the clutch on a hard launch and risk breaking the trans. Will this new trans be suitable for a big block MKII?
Side door on the trailer or remove the door from the car.
Park off center in the trailer. (probably not a good idea)
Take a short skinny kid with you to steer the car in and out.
I wonder what the distance is from bellhousing face to axle centers and input shaft to axle height compared to others such as the 016, 930, G50 etc.
and price difference also.
I would ditch the pump and go back to a good stock pump unless you are spending a lot of time on the track. You could always dry sump it and remove the load on the disti gear completely.
Russ I agree that the parts are beefy but it appears that the lower link and forward links are all double shear, why not the upper?
The frame and rollbar look to be pretty strong. The body looks good and nice to see the ducting is all functional.
One questions for you. In the second picture you posted that shows the rear suspension, is that upper link attached in single shear on both ends? It appears the inner definitely is but can't tell on the outer. Any reason you didn't use double shear mounts?
I hope to have such dilemmas with a GT40 sometime soon. I have to get my Cobra engine rebuilt and get the car sold so I can call Fran and get the next project underway.
Didn't notice it in this thread so thought I would add my $.02.
NEVER USE LOCTITE WHEN INSTALLING PLEXIGLASS. It will cause cracks due to a chemical reaction. Use the nylocks instead.
Have you checked with McLeod? I've been running theirs on my Cobra and really like it. Light touch but nice feel. I'm running a .70 Wilwood M/C with a -4 line. Gives me plenty of throw on the bearing but not enough to over reach it and blow out the O-rings.
As expected and directly from the DMV website

Has anyone here checked this out? My wife talked to the owner and he said he got a request in that was a racing photo of a GT40 and a Cobra on the track.
