William - curse or blessing will be defined by the owners personality (although I think very few shrinking violets buy a GT40). I go to shows quite often and always refuse to have my car judged as it is only 4 years old and still in factory condition, just as I paid for it. I cannot see why my...

Scheming and Planning....New member from the midlands, UK

Welcome Matt, enjoy the journey, and I'm sure you'll get a message from Max, but why not join the GT40 Enthusiasts club? go to a few shows (if you haven't already) and talk to a few owners and check out their cars. It will give you a few good ideas of what you might want to do with your build...

    !968 LeMans winner photo wanted

Rene Super photos, but it looks like there just isn't one of it passing the flag as for all the other years. I hope I'm wrong but if not I'll just have to use what I've got. Thanks again and I'll keep my fingers crossed for that elusive "past the flag" photo.

    !968 LeMans winner photo wanted

Rene That's a better one than mine, I've managed to crop it to just get the 40 iin shot and I have used that for now. If everyone can keep looking I hope to have the full set of finish shots soon. It's nice to have the race history for people to see at shows as it's one thing that most do not...

    !968 LeMans winner photo wanted

Rene, I think that might be thread drift, please keep your mind on the prize and do not get sidetracked with innuendo:laugh: 69 may be a winning combination but remeber victories can sometime leave a nasty taste in your mouth! Look, now you've got me drifting! I have tried various combinations...

    !968 LeMans winner photo wanted

I think in 1969 the car was actually #6 as can be seen in the photo. That pic was definitley Jackie Ickx in 69 and I have that for my document. I think it was #9 in 1968 and that is the one I'm struggling to find, the best pic I could find was this one, but it's not of the car passing the flag...

    !968 LeMans winner photo wanted

Hi all, I've been trying to find a photo of the No 9 winning car driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi from the 1968 LeMans. I have several shots but none of it actually passing the flag. the reason I want this is that I would like to have a poster of the 4 wins 66-69 for car shows that I...

    Big thanks to All here

George, going back to an earlier post of yours about the other car forums throwing you out because you were not "purist" The thing (one of the things) about the GT40 is that if you look at the originals they were nearly all different. Every development that was added, every change for a given...

    Jockland Newbie!

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum, Scotland! My, the window of opportunity to drive one in the dry there must be very small:lol:. Actually I can see the appeal, lots of empty roads with fantastic views, hold on I might try and do that myself soon.

Hi Dan (Troy) I too would like to pass on my fond regards to Marina, Whereabouts in the UK are you (obvioulsy on some coastal location where anything can happen in the next half hour!) If you are starting a MkII build some pics on the build logs would be nice.

TV Show - GT Racer on Dave (UK)

On the programs I've seen there were different drivers although I'm sure they follow a few over several episodes. The GT40 did not feature too high in the ones I saw and also did not perform as well as you'd expect when up against e-types, astons and corvettes of similar vintage. I would have...

TV Show - GT Racer on Dave (UK)

Trev, I've been watching GT racer on an off for a while, it's hard to follow the series as they seem to repeat programs and then miss out the obvious follow on, or that could be me just missing the next program, either way I've seen the same one about 3 times. If I could only see the series in...

    Which watch do you wear?

I am a watch-aholic with around 25 in my collection, I have practical everyday ones for work (Accurist day date) and dress watches for going out (Rolex, Rotary and Fossil) plus a few others for casual (Sekonda, Casio etc) I even have a 70s LED watch. Every time I say that's it no more, I see...

    GT40 Car Mats

Dino I used standard mats that I then cut down to a template for each footwell made from cardboard. I removed the edging trim first, cut them to fit and then restiched the edging. I would recommend anchoring them somehow as they do move around otherwise. It's about time I redid mine as they are...

    Poor man's GT 40

Bob. welcome to GT40s and good luck with the project. As an American Graffiti fan I have to say the rod looks spot on and I expect it was snapped up very quickly. Nice combination, Cobra and GT40 hope you manage to find/make the parts you need. I echo Al's comments about having a word with Fran.
