    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

Hello Chuck. I was wondering what size wheels you got for your D-Type? Are they 15s or 16s? Also, are you running bias ply tires or radials with the bias look? And if radials, what size? 185, 190, 205? Also, how are you mounting your alternator? Are you fabricating your bracket or is...

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

Chuck, quick side question for a moment. Since you've dropped and pulled the engine a few times, you might have a better idea of this. Is there any room in the frame to move the engine forward a few inches? Of course the mounts would have to be modified or fabricated, but as far as it...

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

Hello all. So I drove up to Detroit Thursday afternoon and on Friday morning, I got a nice tour of RCR. It’s an amazing place and a Fran is an impressive guy. For a person to be able to come to our country with his passions and dreams and build something like RCR, it really is America in a...

Any chance you’d reproduce that setup for others if the price was right?

There’s also the risk of leg burns when the passenger exits the car after a ride, which is a strike two for my street use plans, even though the side pipes look so great.

So are you planning an under body exhaust with a muffler in lieu of the side pipe? I might go that route myself ... I'm assuming the non muffled side pipes will be pretty loud even at a normal throttle... though it is an I6 and not a 500+ hp V8, so I could be overthinking it.

Thank you. The bell housing is 15” wide, and I’m sure that would fit. The length is probably different than the Tremec, so I’ll likely need to have a driveshaft cut to proper length. But I was expecting that would have to be done. This transmission will be my fallback plan. I still would...

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

A quick little tale on what happened to me this past week. I’ve been on other forums asking XK6 tech questions, and I get a message from someone who ended up being only 3.5 hours from me who had an XK engine he wanted gone. It was for a project that never happened, and he wanted to clear the...

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

Chuck, since you have some engineering and designs skills... How difficult would it be to design a simple removable headrest for the passenger seat? Something that removes easily when it’s just the driver and where the mount doesn’t interfere with the design, but would keep a passenger from...

Chuck, quick question about your 4.2 setup. I’ve been looking at carb options. Are you familiar at all with the SU carburetor and manifold setup? Do you know if they would clear the driver side footwell and frame?

I bought this Haynes ‘Owners Workshop Manual’ for the D-Type. True, it’s not an actual workshop manual, but it has lots of information and is fun to flip through. It does feature a reasonably in-depth overview of the restoration of XKD 570 at CKL Developments after a crash at the 2015 Le Mans...

Chuck, thank you very much for the measurements. If I could politely ask for three more, I'd like to know the inside dimensions of the engine 'bay'. Picture should be attached. I'm only 6 hours away from RCR, so at some point I might make a trip up there to give it a thorough examination...

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

Thanks for the great info. From my studies, it looks as though the RCR D-Type doesn't have power steering or power brakes. My 57 Chevy was that way before I added the upgrades. It's a 4,000+ pound car with drum brakes, so it was irritating at low speeds and sometimes genuinely frightening at...

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

I don’t want to hijack this build thread too much, but after much Googling, this is literally the only build info I can find online for the RCR D-Type, so I wanted to ask Chuck, Barry, and anyone else with knowledge a few questions. Point of reference. This would be a street car for me…...
