    GT Forte Feedback

Re: JaseH's GTForte FWIW: I too have had nothing but good things to say about Darren. I've ordered a set of his chassis drawings and some suspension bits from him with no problems. Watching this build with a lot of interest.

    Nylon Bushings

In the end I may lean toward Poly as: 1) it's not that expensive. 2) I am hearing Delrin/Nylon is "too harsh" for roads 3) it's just plain easier to buy than build but dang if it wouldn't be cool to make my own bushings! I do take the "it's too harsh for roads" advice to heart a bit more...

    Nylon Bushings

Awesome, thanks. The search continues, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding a supplier for "suspension bushing stock"... My google-fu must be getting weak...

    Nylon Bushings

Delrin has caught my attention as a bushing material but I'm still a bit fuzzy as to the grades. Would delrin 150 stock make a good candidate? Delrin Rod | Delrin 150 Black, 1.250in DIA. X 60in Long Rod Plastics International Online Store I found a bit more info at this site...

    Nylon Bushings

I've heard of delrin before but only by name, I'm afraid I don't know much about it as a bushing material. Jim: It's government work... They bought the lathe, now they have to certify it "safe for use", but first they have to find someone here in Hungary that can do that... I'm not expecting...

    Nylon Bushings

Well, there is a lathe in our shop, but its brand new so no one is allowed to touch it. It just sits there covered in what looks like cosmoline and gathers dust... But your post reminds me, what is the maintenance upkeep like for nylon? Do you just grease em whenever you're in the area or do...

    Nylon Bushings

I did some poking around the inter-webz and it seems that Nylon is preferred over Poly as a bushing material when it comes to "rotational applications" but I had trouble finding a nylon bushing supplier in the automotive community though (some like "Corvair USA" offered nylon bushing kits, but...

    Audi / VW 5 Speed

For the bolt patterns I believe the 012 is the 5-speed that shares the 4.2l bellhousing pattern and I think the 01E 6-speed shares the same pattern as the 012... I'm afraid I wont be much help with your question about the heat treatments etc though, sorry.

This 01E a "good" one to get?

Quick edit: With the excel spreadsheet I have for the 01E gear ratios, I believe the 6th gear in that (0.68) gives you just under 200mph with a 24.9" diameter tire @ 7500rpm... Disclaimer: If a 24.9" diameter tire seems a bit small, thats because I stole the excel spreadsheet from a VW forum.

This 01E a "good" one to get?

IIRC a LSD unit will help a bit in the "strength" department when it comes to the Audi box, and there WAS a Dog-Box option for the 01E. But short of the dog-toothed gears (which I probably couldn't stand for very long in a road car), I hear good things about the G50 and there seems to be...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

I found a diy setup called VEMS that seemed to be somewhat compatible with the Audi V-8 but not much else... I was kind of bummed I couldn't find a megasquirt article though. I looked in to those Ford motors and my first reaction was "holy crap thats expensive" but when I looked into building...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

I'll have to look into the Coyote and Roadrunner, I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't heard of either. But I was looking into the 302 and the 351 and there's some impressive numbers out there. With over 5 liters of displacement I imagine there's some potential to be had :) I was also...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

Hoo-Dawgies! Well, I guess that does it for that idea :) As much as I'd like a good view of the supercharger belt, having one located between me and the passenger wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Besides the wife's hair might catch in the pulley... Back to the drawing board then...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

With the 1uz I was hoping for the M90 supercharger kit I've been oogeling over, but if I were to go SBF it'd probably be 302/351 and I'd shoot for a round number like 350hp (and I'd drive very delicately). I tend to like screamers over torque monsters though... dont know why. The G50 is really...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

I do like the Ford but that Toyota, 4-cam, 32-valve, 4-liter motor with 6-bolt mains is so dang sexy! But the Ford would be cheaper... Hence the dilemma. That's still a long ways off though, I'd really like to finish the suspension bits before I got into the engine. I let myself get...

    Been lurching for a while...

Thanks guys. I caught the "K" vs "ch" right after I hit the "submit" button... Looks like they don't let you edit your introduction :) Must be some sort of evaluation system for the new people? Good times. Glad to see two more people from Washington state though! Hopefully I'll be back in...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

Its just the Lexus motor that was causing all the clearance problems or does the gear box contribute to that as well? I remember reading about some exhaust manifold clearance issues you had too... I really did like the 1uz from a cost standpoint (I can have the adapters made cheap, and the m90...

    Audi 012 Vs 01E

The ones I find are usually from wrecked autos in the area (the roads are notoriously horrible over here, very narrow, bumpy, and fast) but I figure for the price I can pick up a couple for the price of.... (insert expensive transaxle of your choice here) I know I've seen that said on these...
