Le Mans GT40 Mark I Luggage Regulation

Right, so here's the photo I was thinking about. Page 36 Chapter 3 "Ford GT40 - The autobiography of 1075". A much clear photo. The image representing beginning of the John Wyer seasons 68/69. The clip to the photo just marks John Wyers return but doesn't say which chassis it is.

Le Mans GT40 Mark I Luggage Regulation

I might be wrong about this particular photo, so I might be saying this about another car. I'll try and find the source of the other photos. My recollection (could be wrong) is that the car, this one or maybe not, was photographed at the Brands BOAC - ? 68 or 69. Therefore just before Le...

Le Mans GT40 Mark I Luggage Regulation

I've found a few period photos of MKI's showing this "skimpy frame set up" on top of the exhaust system. That is MKI's of the 68/69 era. Everyone knows about the MKII's dual luggage bins visible from a rear angle that were required to meet regulations. Is this a "luggage frame" fitted to meet...

    Road Coupe vs Race Coupe

The "Road Cars" had a two plate clutch vs three plate clutch in the Race Cars, I do believe.

    Road Coupe vs Race Coupe

Road Cars Tyre Choice Dunlop Front - 5.5 X 15 - Rears 7.25 X 15 - Oh Yes Goodyear Front - 5.5 X 15 - Rears 7.00 X 15 - Oh Yes There's an original photo of GT40 Road Car around after it crashed during a race with these tyres clearly fitted - probably why it's crashed. Here's the photo...

A GT40 For The Taller Person

Hi Richard, Thanks very much for this information. It's looking quite promising, that a GTD/SGT/AK40 could be a way forward.

Mitsuba FP-3 Fuel Pump - Can they be reconditioned.

Thanks very much for this picture of things. Do you have a "go-to" brand of pump that you would fit in these circumstances?

Mitsuba FP-3 Fuel Pump - Can they be reconditioned.

You're in Norway? I'm interested. Does gt40s.com have a pm system?

Mitsuba FP-3 Fuel Pump - Can they be reconditioned.

Just to add Frank, I would prefer to have pumps that have a period look to them rather than switch to a contemporary set up. I'm sure you will know far better than me what brands were used for the sixties cars. I've seen some period photos of GT40's with Mitsuba's as well as Stuart Warners...

Mitsuba FP-3 Fuel Pump - Can they be reconditioned.

The SGT came with two! One's failing, I do believe, so I thought a good staring point would be to obtain another to try and also make some performance comparisons between the three. I drove it down to the Le Mans Classic and did three track sessions on one tank, which wasn't fun.

Mitsuba FP-3 Fuel Pump - Can they be reconditioned.

Hi, UK based and as per the heading. Is it possible to recondition these? A pump working within normal limits. How much variance in noise level is acceptable? Does a certain noise level indicate imminent failure and if so what might that level be? Asking as I have an opportunity to purchase...

A GT40 For The Taller Person

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to reply. I'm thinking there are some realistic potentials for this query. Taking note of your replies and being UK based it's looking like a GTD/SGT/AK with a lowered floor pan and probably a Gurney bubble could provide a solution. Also an MDA with...

A GT40 For The Taller Person

That sounds interesting Ady. Can I come back to you potentially in the near future? I think you were the fourth emergency service earlier in the year when you rescued a GT40 that had parted company with a spinner? Donington Historic. That was me.

A GT40 For The Taller Person

Hi everyone, UK based Rutland Area. A guy has been in touch and sat in my car, Southern GT40, non lowered floor, no Gurney Bubble. He's in, the door shuts but it's clear it's never going to work. He's very keen to make it work and is a "can do" sort of person. He's 6foot 4inches with a...

Southern GT40 - Fuel Pump Problem

Sorry for the delayed reply. The high pressure pump with no voltage supply problem. After tracing the lack voltage back to the Accel DFI, I decided to recheck and reconnect / check the wiring, relay and the high pressure pump; with a view to wire in the high pressure pump with a separate...

Southern GT40 - Fuel Pump Problem

Hi Don, The circuit from the Accel DFI is all good and is working fine. There is a fuse before the relay on the power side that is tested and intact. I have stumbled on some manuals/wiring diagrams for Accel stuff so i might find some clues there.

Southern GT40 - Fuel Pump Problem

I'll try and find someone who can work with this Accel System and see what they come up with. Thanks Ian
