Eric's SLC Project Code Name "Grifter"

WOW that looks bloody sensational. Fran, please do a 'sticky' thread that lists all the optional parts available or that become available for the SLC.

    SLC picture thread

someone caught me on track the other weekend! Yes i know they are not safe 'tow' points but i wasn't running hard enough to come off track to have to use them.

    A.J.'s SL-C build thread

Those sliding pedals are an awesome idea! Just wondering how you will work them when the pedal box is in any position other than closest to the driver? When braking won't you have to lift the heal of your foot onto that centre plate to apply the brake? Unless, you rest your foot on that higher...

    SLC Aftermarket Seat Option

I mounted the extinguisher up on the rear. I have plenty of room to step and stand next to the drivers seat and then drop into place. I have noticed that my passenger seat (your drivers seat) is closer to the sill and thus harder to enter the car.

That looks great Eric! did you get the stickers/livery from Fran? Fran, why don't we know about all these little extras like the carbon rear engine cover? you need a sticky thread with all these items you have available. You know how a love to procrastinate over buying extra goodies!

Correct rad cap for the custom coolant tank?

Thanks Will! I will swap the caps around. That probably explains the reason I can sometimes hear coolant gurgling in the header tank after i turn the SLC off. I gather by incorrectly having the pressure relief cap on the header tank its actually letting air into the system thus causing the...

Correct rad cap for the custom coolant tank?

Hi Eric Are you after the ‘pressure’ ratings on the caps? I can take a look at mine and let you know... but I have a 2 tank system. From looking at your 'walk around' footage i think you only run 1 coolant tank. I have a header tank (add coolant via) and an expansion tank. The header...

Eric's SLC Project Code Name "Grifter"

Eric, We don't use 'treadwear' here in Aust. For my sake can you expanded on why they are not suitable? Are you required to run '200 treadwear' for your autocross and other events you wish to complete in? or are you just looking for a tire with longer wear life? cheers Stu

Eric's SLC Project Code Name "Grifter"

Eric, I'm intending to grab a set of Toyo Proxes R888's (Front 275/35/18 and Rears 325/30/19) to use for the racetrack, best thing is they are street legal in Australia. Idea is to grab a second set of rims from Fran and wrap those rims in the R888's and throw them on for track work. R888's...

Eric's SLC Project Code Name "Grifter"

Great stuff Eric! loved the woots of excitement during the drive, in fact it was about the only 'in car' dialogue i could hear properly! haha. looking forward to more SLC adventures. cheers Stu

SLC windows DO act as a magnifying glass.

In my original thread on my SLC I mentioned I was seeking a solution for the side windows to aid in reducing the intensity in sun light. See Post #5 of this thread: http://www.gt40s.com/forum/slc-clubhouse/43109-new-sl-c-owner.html For ease, this is what I said: “When the sun shines through...

    Keeping heat/noise down inside cabin?

Only thing I'm able to input is a pic of my insulated coolant pipe. The only comparative measurement i can comment on is the exhaust. When i had the exhaust installed to achieve required decibel limits for registration it was so quiet in the cabin. Now with the LS7 headers, race cats and 3A...

    SLC down under promo

Hey Mesa When I say not sorted, I mean it had never been pushed hard like you can on the track compared to the road. External Oil and trans coolers installed back on the track all vitals are now fine. Yes the 'coil bind' was commented on by the Pro-driver prior to heading out he wasn't able...

    SLC down under promo

Thanks for posting footage Chris. I refer to your comment above, there is a reason! FYI. It was the SLC's first time on the track. I'm the passenger and as you can see I'm looking at all the dash warning systems. The oil temp was running too high... so the car wasn't pushed too much. It was...

Engine oil temp on race track

Thanks Joe! I spoke to the blokes at Heasmans Steering & Suspension who did the custom Bilstein MDS shock build and they said they could certainly build sets and ship them to the States. It might be easier if you buy the Penske race shocks from Fran though. The Bilsteins are certainly not cheap...

Air intake tube routing for the race tail?

    Eric Check Allan's video's on youtube, he's done a few race tail builds. here are a couple: <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMOHZzfI8Vg...

    SLC picture thread

Thanks Jack and Joe! Don't you worry Joe there is track and road footage coming soon, probably within the next month. I will post when it's ready. I was concerned when Jac Mac raised the issue with Penske shocks not being suitable to use as a limiter on full suspension droop (in the other...

My new favorite SLC YouTube video...

P Roth. I was at the suspension pace on Friday. Yes they did exactly what you said, they used spacers both front and rear. Jac Mac I checked with the suspension engineer and unlike Penske shocks the Bilsteins are designed to be a travel limiter on full droop. Kris. Agreed it was an awesome...
