Do I remember correctly that there were different hubs provided by Fran in the earlier and later kits? It's so, will that affect the need for upgraded hubs?
Pretty slick. I haven't sand cast aluminum since junior high and wondered off and on if it would make sense for some parts. Seems like it was the perfect solution for what you needed.
Cool Frank. A few questions:
Got any more info or photos of your sand/plaster molds?
What did you use to melt down the aluminum?
Source for the aluminum you used?
Thanks,
John
Just an observation, if you start out by asking for dimensions and cad files from someone who put a lot of resources into designing and fabricating a custom chassis, don't be too surprised if you don't get a reply. It could be perceived that you are attempting to copy the design.
I know this is an older thread, but it still contains good info. I'm hooking up mine this weekend.
Always appreciate you guys posting up stuff like this. I doubt I would have ever figured this out without help.
As they always say, what do you intend to do with the car?
If it's street only, the extra power is not needed.
But the sound, oh yes that sound is absolutely necessary in that car. :)
Chris,
Maybe we can all get together when Tres comes to town.
If not, let me know when you're around. Be glad to show you mine in progress. It's not quite done yet though.
