    Don's Mk IV Build

The dash switch panel is almost complete after a late night. Plans have me shipping this to RCR for mounting. I'm going to work on the top and weld some of the corners before shipping. I want to paint with black crackle paint similar to the old MG dashes were done. Thinking it's best to wait...

Fran's gang has been working hard on the headers. It's really cool to see that big FE setting in the car with headers going on. Enjoy!!!!

    Don's Mk IV Build

I took the trip to Detroit to check on the status of the car last Wednesday and took measurements and pictures of the completed car RCR turnkey built a few years back. My car had the body removed and setting in the welding area for header welding, see attached photos. I also got a look...

    Don's Mk IV Build

Sorry for the delay of posting anything. Over the summer I went and took a lot of pictures of J7. The junk along the walls was very interesting. Noting the oil coolers and finding identical coolers setting in a corner where I could take a picture of the model number started me on a quest of...

    J9, formerly J7A

Les, The clear air box was used originally on the two Holman Moody prepared cars, J7 & J8. You can google to find more photos of those cars. There are two 3"+ clear intakes on each side of the box. These connect to the side intakes on the rear clam shell. The induction system is normally two...

The old photos of the 1967 Le Mans I have seen show the front air openings closed also on the HM cars. I assume the brake cooling was also from the radiator plenum. I think I read somewhere that the drivers found the lift was higher with the openings open.

Thanks guys, “M” I can’t thank you enough for the poster. When it comes to a good wife I truly am blessed. Although the right transaxle would be a T44 my budget is not going to support that so a ZF is what I’m going with. As I study the four “J” cars that raced at Le Mans in 1967 I...

    Don's Mk IV Build

As I wait for my car to arrive I have been playing in the garage. One of the main looks I like about the engine compartment is the clear air box with the clear carb velocity stacks. This was only done on the Holman Moody cars and draws your eyes directly to the top of the engine. At lease it...

    What is It?

Thanks Jim, you would know for sure this detail. Were Shelby’s prepared cars the only ones that used these running lights or did the Holman Moody cars also have them? My plans have me traveling the Bolder to look at J7 next week, not sure how much detail I will be able to see but will try my...

This is interesting. Checking old photos of the J8 car in the pits before the race at Le Mans 1967-24HoursofLeMans_012 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! the oil tank window in not there which brings us back to was it a light? The best photos I've found are Dave Friedman's at the above site. Looking...

    What is It?

Thanks guys, I reviewed some additional photos last night and you are correct. I just had not seen that round view window in the oil tank before while looking at old pictures. I love learning more about these cars.

    What is It?

I can see the oil cooler with the attached photo and what looks like something shiny. I will be the first to admit I don't know much about these cars but by looking at old photos I thought the trans cooler was on the right side and the engine cooler was on the left close to the where the oil...
