    Agreed Value Validation

Hi Ian... just a minute.. don't do anything which might open yourself up to a claim e.g. you may end up in court giving evidence as to your engineering qualifications and how you came about a certain valuation. Cross examination is not a nice thing to experience when you're in the witness box...

    Insurance who !

I have agreed value policies for £750k with Hagerty's, the premium being £2k per annum, which I consider a bargain and the guys know who you are and what you have got already insured as soon as you pick up the phone. Andrew

Mk.II that won LeMans (ex-Stauffer car)

Yes, and Jean Blaton owned and historic raced GT40P/1042 in the 1980/90s. Jacky Ickx drove GT40P/1001 at the 1966 Le Mans. My car P/1042, has the registration document associated with GT40P/1042, the short motor from Blaton's car and the bodywork off 1001.... neat eh???? Andrew

    P1001

OK... then we'll have less of the build and more of the history... if that's what people like Ron wants. Thanks to Ian Anderson, whose family kindly travelled to their homeland's newspaper and searched through their old records for more than a couple of hours. They found this interesting...

Ford GT article - Ford Times April 1964

Yes, interesting. I bought a May 1965 copy from EBay.com, as it reported the New York Motor Sallon/Worlds Fair. GT40P/1001 first appeared there as a Shelby mock up and I expected it to be featured in this, a Ford magazine, but nothing... no mention of GT40s at all... only groovy Mustangs. A...

Pleased to say, the two boxes of pretty unique parts arrived at CCD today, about three weeks late, but at least in one (two) pieces. Also received a couple of photographs from NZ showing the magnesium pedal box is ready to be dry fitted... Andrew

Surrey & Sussex Christmas Meal 12th Dec

Tonight at 7:30 pm we shall meet to toast the memory of Oliver Reid dressed as Santa sliding down the chimney at the Cricketers in Ockley. There's a total of 26 members coming, so we will be split up into two teams. I would advise you all to dress up warm, as it's a 500 year old pub, once a...

    The truth about Safir Engineering

Hi Jim & Keith.. yes, I agree with you in hindsight. I have written to both Bob Wood and John Sadler explaining that I had no intention to step on their toes. I did not fully understand, or consider, how they would feel about a similarly-named company producing cars. I did nothing illegal to...

    The truth about Safir Engineering

My intentions were purely innocent, I simply thought it neat to own a company with such great lineage via its name back to the glory days of JWA and the Gulf cars etc. I wasn't even sure whether Mr Thorp was still around or not. If he was, I thought he might be happy that his previous...

    P1001

Well.. it's all been a tad stressful around here... not made any easier by two boxes of original, or original-style (got to be careful here) parts, getting stuck in NZ customs. I had rounded up figures and the chaps in Auckland demanded to know more, making me have to try and fill in commercial...

    The truth about Safir Engineering

Hang on a minute... isn't this a case of double standards? Am I right in thinking Safir GT40 Spares (Ohio) Llc have produced only one chassis i.e. GT40P/1149... and wasn't this constructed by David Brown of Classic Car Developments in NZ, not by Safir in the USA itself, but simply badged as a...

Surrey & Sussex Christmas Meal 12th Dec

Thanks Paul. A lot on my mind at the moment and a big court case coming up on the 14th. I add that I am the prosecutor not the defendant before people get the wrong end of the stick.. so hence the confusion. Our Christmas meal takes place on Wednesday 12th December.... Andrew

    The truth about Safir Engineering

I recently stumbled across this thread and am outraged at its libellous statements which attempt to defame my character through misunderstanding and a misconceived notion that I am dishonest. Unfortunately, Mr Thorp, Mr Woods and Mr Sadler decided to publicise their thoughts on a public forum...

    P1001

Mark... yes, I agree, it cannot be the original car anymore. I have stressed over and over, for legal reasons my car is not thee original GT40P/1042 either, but does have more than a mere association to it and is distinguished by it's VIN being "P/1042" as opposed to a VIN of "GT40P/1042". I'm...

    P1001

Re: P/1042 (1001) Everyone- I cannot lay claim to GT40P/1042 for legal reasons. The car being reconstructed in NZ has VIN P/1042, but this has not been plucked from thin air, as it can be traced back to 1994 when imported into the UK. It's history before that is more tenuious, but may be...

    P1001

The reconstruction of the NZ chassis began in 2009. I did not have the UK tub then. Both have steel roof spiders. I said some elements of the NZ chassis have period panels incorporated, but as I am learning fast, the GT40-World is a litigeous place, so I do not lay claim to the original...

    P1001

Seasons Greetings to you also, Jimmy, you old munter hunter. You're perfectly correct as usual, as I've pointed out endlessly before, I claim no legal rights to GT40P/1042, but the tub does contain original Abbey Panels parts e.g. the gearbox crossmember, the VIN is "P/1042", and the entire...

Surrey & Sussex Christmas Meal 12th Dec

Hi Keith.. All this is hearsay, as I am an immigrant from the frozen North, but I believe the red building to which you refer, might have been The Parrot at Forest Green. Clapton used to jam with Gary Brooker of Prochol Harum their. Gary owned the pub I am informed. The Cricketers is where...
