    You tell me ?

It is obviously a replica, like all the others, if it was built in 2007. It looks very well done, except for details like the switches, but not worth $500,000 IMO. It is interesting that it might never get FIA papers because of the lack of a chassis number - that is good news as when we watch...

Rubber moulding for rear clip to spyder

Hi Mark I had the same problem with my RF. I have rectified it by attaching a length of the sealing strip supplied for the door openings along the top rear edge of the spider. The sealing strip is the one with the spongy tube that is clipped onto a flange round the door opening. Also I have...

    Real? or GTD?

Hi Allan My comment on the quality of the bodywork being a criterion for determining whether a GT40 was an original or replica was intended to be a joke. I agree entirely with your comment on "continuation" models. I have no problems at all with anyone claiming that their GT40 is an exact...

Rcr europe parts / spinner tool

The torque figures quoted earlier, ie 375 - 400 ft/lbs, are very high compared to the centre lock nuts on my Radical where the recommended torque is 200 ft/lbs for a similar sized nut. When correctly torqued I cannot undo the nut with a 1 metre bar (and I weigh 200 lbs) but have to use a...

    Chassis design using honeycomb core

Current Lotus chassis are aluminium monocoques where the panels are glued together. Don't know what type of glue is used, but it is orange in colour - I had an Exige and you could see where it had oozed out of the joints. Panels are aluminium sheet and not honeycomp, however. The chassis do seem...

Interest wanted For July 2009 Santa Pod Day

Count me in. My son might come as well as second driver, if thats OK. He was faster than me at Brighton, but it was his car (not GT40) and he was very familiar with it. Chris

    trackday machine..thoughts??

Our Radical SR3 needs 2 people to remove and replace the front and rear body sections - which is necessary to get at anything internal - but everything else can be done single handed. The Radical is a race car and therefore maintenance intensive, but it is not complicated and everything is very...

    Real? or GTD?

You used to be able to tell a replica from the real thing by the bodywork fit - the real ones were not very good and bore the scars from racing whereas the replicas were perfect! However, a lot of the real GT40s have now been completely rebuilt and are at least as good as the replicas and also...

    F1 2008

I thought the circuit was a huge disappointment. It could have been on a industrial estate anywhere in the world. The spectators were all but invisible and there was no atmosphere at all. The actual race proved to be quite interesting for reasons unconnected with the cars actually racing each...

    F1 2008

McLaren did check with the officials at the race (including Charlie Whiting apparently) that the move was OK and they said it was. What more can a team do? IMHO F1 is currently being masterminded by people who have no interest in the sport but only with the money they can make out of it. If only...

    New Roaring Forties Opinion

(Quote) As a Mech Engineer, I can also say that their parts and engineering are up to scratch, unlike some parts and systems that have been previously associated with the RF brand. As the recipient of the last Kit to come out of the old RF, I would be interested to know what you consider to...

Oh dear - would have come, probably in the Radical as the GT40 isn't painted yet, but will be on holiday in Spain at that time. Have fun. Chris

Original GT40s at Classic Le Mans

I should mention that the Porsches were in a different group and therefore not on the track at the same time as the early GT40s - very impressive sound nonetheless. The first time I had seen a 917 in action. Of the truly iconic cars from the 60s/70s I think the GT40 and 917 are at the top. Chris
