    Coyote or SBF

Just my $.02. You've got a car from the 1960's. You obviously love that era of racing. I know I do. You got the car for a reason. To bring back that excitement for not only you, but for others to enjoy when you take it out and run and show it. There is going to be an expectation when that...

    Ho 302 f1se

I've read that the blocks from 1969-1974 are better than later blocks. I'm not sure if these are the C and D blocks spoken of earlier.

Wow. This is a heck of a deal.

Here's a loaded question: Which engine would be best for an RCR build?

Hmm, Kaase P38 heads $2500 for a pair ready to go. But they are setup for a roller cam. But I'm sure could be made for a standard flat tappet.

Here's a loaded question: Which engine would be best for an RCR build?

Yeah, the shop I've used builds a lot of race engines for drag and short track racing. I think if I go ahead with this, I'll most likely do a 351W/408 stroker engine.

Here's a loaded question: Which engine would be best for an RCR build?

Thanks for the input. I've worked with an engine shop here for over 15 years. Done half a dozen engines with them and I've never had anything I put together come apart. All big block Buicks. But the shop does of lot of race engines for dirt track, drag, etc. I always have everything at the...

Here's a loaded question: Which engine would be best for an RCR build?

Well, that sounds like a reasonable package. And it's still close to my theoretical budget.

Here's a loaded question: Which engine would be best for an RCR build?

Well, like i said, I'm looking for options/advice as I have to admit I'm pretty ignorant having never dealt with one of these cars. Sounds like I'd be better off with a 302 or351 engine setup. I guess looking at completed cars that are up and running and finding out their combos will go a long...

Here's a loaded question: Which engine would be best for an RCR build?

I know, I know. I'm probably going to get 100 different responses with 100 different opinions. But I gotta ask. Looking at possibly a GT40 build. I was originally thinking of a 428FE engine for a build. But I was barraged with people telling me that I'll be tearing up the transmission in no...

Hello, new to site, wondering what "real" cost is of a GT40?

Thanks. I was planning on taking a trip up to Detroit once the kids were back to school. What Ferrari did you have? I looked, but just am not that impressed with anything from the early 90's on up. And the maintenance costs are outrageous. I had a Maserati and it was the same thing. And...

Hello, new to site, wondering what "real" cost is of a GT40?

I think a 428FE and a 455 are probably very similar, @600-625 lbs. Here's my current weekend ride. I've had it since Y2K and I think it's time for a change. But like I've said, I'm not against a 302 which becomes a 347 or a 351 which can both make a decent amount of power. I'm guessing I'm...

Hello, new to site, wondering what "real" cost is of a GT40?

Oh yeah baby. That thing must really be heavy in the ass though with that engine in the back.

    Mitch Krause's RCR GT40 Build

That's what I really like about this hobby. People are always willing to help out a fellow member. Even at the race track I've seen this between two drivers that were going to be going up against each other. Well done Rod. Say, could you weld together a chassis for me real quick? :)

Hello, new to site, wondering what "real" cost is of a GT40?

Ian, 13.4 is not too bad a time in the quarter mile. I'm just used to my current car, a 1970 Buick GS455 convertible. With drag radial tires, it runs 11.8's at 113 mph. And it weighs 4250 lbs (1920 kilos). This car put down 396hp/476tq to the rear wheels on a chassis dyno. But the engine is...

Hello, new to site, wondering what "real" cost is of a GT40?

Thanks. Guess I didn't consider that the "Bundle of Snakes" could cost so much. $2K!?!? Wow. And going with a 347 stroker or a 351W engine probably wouldn't change the cost of the engine. I don't need a 600 monster. But I sure don't want to be put in my place by a new Nissan Maxima. The...

Hello, new to site, wondering what "real" cost is of a GT40?

Well, the RCR deluxe plus kit seems to include just about everything, including heat and a/c, for the $42K. A few little add-ons would seem to nudge it up another 3 grand, hence my $45K guesstimate. He says the gelcoat can be buffed/sanded out to look pretty good. I'm not looking for a show...

OK thanks. Sounds like it's a real labor of love. Do you find it a complicated process or pretty straight forward, just a lot of things?
