    917 Scratch Build

Looks good As long as you can get your hand between it & the widshield you should be fine. But I do like (as suggjected) an eyebrow/hood over the instraments to help with glare. Mounting might be best from undernieth? A few alum. tabs & screws or pop rivets maybe? Threaded inserts? You'll work...

    My Scratch Built Project

That cross member looks great. I like your use of the cap screws instead of regular bolts. I always thought they looked cleaner. Cross member will look great with a set of nice cast valve covers too. Actually looks a lot like the cross member for a T-70. It was all billet machined out like that...

    My Lotus build

Off the subject Molleur. Your avatar is interesting. Are you a pilot? Like your flight jacket (if that's you LOL). I used to be a big collector of Flying Tiger memorabelia. Still have a couple of flight jackets myself. Can't really make out the squadron patch. Nice "friend" too LOL Mike S.

    My Lotus build

Probably but these are renters. I like the actual owners. The big problem I have with their complaints are. They're up-wind from where I was working & 50 ft away. The prevailing wind & we nearly always have a breeze. Is away from thier house & into my backyard/patio area. I haven't cleaned off...

MK1 Replica... is this fine to do?

I've never seen a pic. of that car. An interesting twist on the Lotus 7 style. I was surfing the site & ran across this thread. I'd think the 40 could certainly get warm in the summer being rather small area of the interior. I think I'd hinge the window at the top with a latch at the bottom...

    My Lotus build

Got the body mounted on a rotissery set up now. That way I can rotate it to get to the under edges on the side pods. Also makes it much easier to duck under to work on the engine bay area & wheel arches. Used an engine stand to bolt to the front & built a simmular stand for the rear. Easy...

    917 ...sofa

There's no question that to get THAT accurate an upholstry. Would not only be expensive, but hard to find a good person to work with you & do it correctly. Thus the end product being also expensive to us mear mortals LOL One of simular design but with say a racing stripe could be easier & less...

    917 ...sofa

I know this is an old thread. Thought I'd resarect it for newer folks (like me) Really cool, I've seen others somewhat like it. Like 57 Chevys or Fords etc. Wouldn't really be too hard to do if I had a nose to use for a mold. A McLaren would be cool too say a M-1 or M-6 Lola T-70? The main thing...

    917 Scratch Build

Chris 1/2" off is probably nothing. Most of these race cars can be off more than that from side to side. The rush to get them homologated (sp?) I think prevented them from making fixturing for some things. They were hand assembled/built without the luxury of factory type controlls. How did...

    "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

Yeah WHEN you're looking LOL I have 3 sons & know that look. Project is looking cool. WOW you're making even more dust than me! I've had complaints from my next door neighbor. That her cats are getting sick. Because they're tracking through the dust (in MY yard) then cleaning themselves. She...

    914 4 speed & HP?

Thanks guys the price of that V-8 conversion kit though. Makes a 950 purchase price not all that much more. I should check with Kennedy too. Although I suppose you'd need most of that stuff to adapt it too. Any link to a 914 forum I could check out? Of course with my Lotus project now & the...

    914 4 speed & HP?

I'm just currious. I have a Porsche 914 trans that was given to me. One of these days I'd like to build a Can-Am type car. Like A McLaren 1 or 6 or a T-70 spider. Anyone know about how much HP it can take? I'd be looking at something like a Buick/Olds 215 aluminum V-8 slightly warmed nothing...

    Amazing garage

I saw a lot of almost (if not) identicle new bikes. More like a sales floor than a real collection. I don't know what other kinds of cars he has (if any) but they all looked pretty mundane. The type you'd see in any couple of garages in a fair neighborhood. a shame money is wasted on folks with...

    Sound Deadening

Sound deadening? Bite you tounge!!!!! I though that was why we got these cars? LOL I used Dynamat on the floor in my C3 Corvette. To deaden the road noise (so I could hear rhe engineLOL) seems to work pretty well. As to how much? Enough to cover? Mike S

    My Lotus build

Thanks Charlie I always liked a challenge LOL This one is of my own making though LOL I wanted to get rid of the rather small rear drum brakes. To go with disc all arround. Well one thing lead to another (don't they always?) I was converting from the inner U-joints to CVs. The friend who's doing...
