Jackie Oliver to drive a GT40 at Shelsley Walsh

Hi Paul. Oooops. Didn't manage to work out that it's the day before the trackday - it seems that I want to visit the parents in law over that weekend. Well that's what Tracy told me, anyway. Will anyone else be going? Charles

Jackie Oliver to drive a GT40 at Shelsley Walsh

More details at www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk Shelsley is a fabulous venue with real history. I think I'm right in saying that it's the oldest continuous-use motorsport venue in the world. You can see everything from Bugattis to really rapid moderns competing there and the atmosphere is just right...

    GOODWOOD 2003

I've just been on the phone to a pal of mine who's there today. He reports that the display of 40s is absolutely awesome. I'll be there tomorrow (Saturday) with my father-in-law, and can't wait! Charles

    GT40 in FHM

I was out reading the magazines at lunchtime and found a GT40 picture in FHM, in an article about fast cars. It's dark graphite with a yellow stripe / nose, UK registered L308*** (from memory). So - who owns this one? Charles. PS If you're interested it's the August 2003 edition with Jordan...

    lydden hill

Lydden is one of my earliest memories of motorsport on TV - those hugely overpowered autocross (?) cars on a circuit that was half tarmac and half cross country. Superb to watch and very, very muddy. Although my car is pretty much prepared for sprints now, sorry to say I won't be going. My list...

    MEMBERS READ CAREFULLY!

Spencer, IF any or all of Clyde's remarks in this posting are "highly libellous", "untrue" or "defamatory" you MUST take further advice from your "Legal Team" and if necessary, take matters further. Such allegations could be construed as highly damaging to the reputations of the directors of...

Malc, Don't forget to make room for a dog house - because at this rate, that's where you'll be living! Charles

    Sloping driveway - help !?!?

#Update# I manufactured a jig to check the ground clearance coming in to the drive and it seems to be ok. That's if the wheelbase is 95" and the ground clearance is 5". Now as my car is about 1hour away, could someone help me out? I need to know the distance between the front axle and the end...

    Sloping driveway - help !?!?

Cobra? That sounds more like a Dodge Charger with a big flag on the roof Or perhaps that black car with the red LEDs on the front that can drive itself!! Nevertheless, I take my hat off to you. I reckon that if I tried that, I'd end up either in the living room or in the back garden. One...

    Sloping driveway - help !?!?

Bill, building a wooden jig is exactly what I had planned. Great minds, etc....! As my car's away, could I trouble for the measurements of your jig? I guess the important dimensions are the wheelbase, ground clearance and front overhang. Cheers. Charles

    Sloping driveway - help !?!?

I've moved house and my 40 is away on its holidays at a nice air conditioned hotel - but I think there's going to be a problem with my driveway! It slopes down from the road to the garage and I don't think the 40 will fit - firstly I reckon it'll ground as it as it goes over the edge, and...

how old were you when you bought your 40??

Well I'd promised myself a GT40 when I was 40, but managed to buy mine when I was 34 (i think). From here on the plan is: F40 at 40 (sorry) F50 at 50 ??? at 60 (any ideas??) T70 at 70 I'm not Methusalah, so a 917 is looking unlikely if I stick to this plan! Charles

    Custom GT Spoiler Kit

Jim, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking of the downforce we could generate - if my wife were to sit on it. Only a low speed solution, I guess. Charles

    CarCoons?

I've been considering a carcoon too and it seems that one of their main features is to prevent condensation by isolating your car from rapid temperature changes. Apparently, this is what causes condensation and is what should be avoided at all costs. Malc, reading your post about sea...

    Choice words!

Hi again Julian. I'm training up my son to be like your niece. He's already been to Spa, and Goodwood a couple of times. He's just two so isn't quite as good with words yet, but when he sees a motorbike he always says "brrm". When you ask him what noise daddy's car makes, he shouts...

    Kart away winter blues

I have to agree with Malcolm on this one. The karting facility at Thruxton was superb and VERY professionally run. What Malc didn't make clear was that we used a total of 4 karts during the 2.5 hour enduro race - because he single handedly put three out of action! It was a miracle that...

    Help needed for crazy idea!

Malc, it may not really be feasible, but how about driving all the way there? My dad did it once - down through Italy to the heel (Brindisi?) then take a boat. Now that would be the road trip to end all road trips! Best of all, your route could take you through the Stelvio pass - just like in...

    New GT40 MFR in UK

JP, "We sponsor another guy who is even bigger! His arms are 25inch in diameter! " Are you sure this guy isn't an elephant? A diameter of 25 inches means 78 inches round. In other words, about the same as my waistline!!
