    Import Duty, etc

I am trying to work out some costs. Does anybody know what duties, taxes, VAT etc are involved in importing a kit or parts from Sweden? I have searched the minefield known as the Custom and Excise site, and am no wiser. All help gratefully received. Cheers, Geoff.

    different headlights

As I understand, from the SAE Papers, the Mk II had wiper components from a Boeing 707. Apparently, normal wiping speeds for aircraft are about 240 wipes per minute through an angle of 60 degrees. When used in aircraft at 28 volts, the motor runs at 11,000 rpm. When operating at 12 volts, the...

John Horsman's book "Racing in the Rain"

Have just been given "Racing in the Rain". It is superb! Although covering John Horsmans career, of the 416 pages, the Porsche era starts on page 195, so there is plenty for the GT40 man. The detail in the book is astonishing - Coolant temperatures - Cds of differet body designs - Gear...

    Christmas Fortyfication Magazine

Brian, I've been waiting since 1969, standing behind a lime tree on the edge of Mulsanne Straight and being literally flattened by the exhaust noise as the cars passed about 3 feet away. The theory was that if a car came off the track the trees would save us! The abiding memory of the race was...

CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW AT THE NEC

In the NEC's site for the Classic Motor Show on 4th-6th November, mention is made of extra discount off ticket prices to Car Club Members. Are Enthusiast Club members eligible (Or GTD Car Club members for that matter)? Also, does anyone know if any replica manufacturers are attending? Cheers...

    RF40 front Uprights

Having spent some time studying photographs of the RF40 front uprights on various sites, they don't look particularly strong. What are they like in use? The inclusion of AP calipers in the kits is tempting, but I'm not sure of those uprights.

    The New Ford GT

Just been given a book titled "Ford GT - The Legend Comes To Life" by Larry Edsall, to add to my collection. Chassis Manufacture

Incredible - An original chassis? This is a GT40 desert up here! The company is called Abacus Engineering in Workington. The illustration (Very small) shows the front and rear body sections in red, and what looks like a perimeter frame being fabricated in probably 4" square section. Perhaps the...
