Yes, the ring gear should be on the other side of the gearbox to use on a gt40, it is set up for pantera at the moment and then goes to the back of the gearbox.

On GT40P-1075 at least, those are just two Lucas fuse boxes mounted from behind the dash panel through two cutout on the fiberglass.

Can you post some pictures of the chassis, the differences between the MKIIA and MKIIB are many.

Yes Ron is correct it is a dip switch for flashing the headlights. From Rare Drive https://www.raredrive.com/gt40-restoration And I believe must MKII just used a three position Lucas switch for turn signal on the dash.
