In reference to 1964, the GT40s were entered by Ford Advanced Vehicles and managed by John Wyer. Wyer had used the Hotel de France as his base of operations when he managed the Aston Martins and returned there in 1964 for both the April trials and the June race and later in 1968 and 1969 when...

I believe the cause of the fire was contact with the wall.

This may be the picture you are thinking of. It is very similar to the photo in Ronnie Spain's book but a bit different. I don't know the source but it may be FoMoCo.

    J9, formerly J7A

I have seen posted on a Ferrari web site a picture of a white Ford GT MKIV. The inference is that it is the former unraced J7A chassis J9 which has been rebodied as a MKIV. Anyone have details?

    What is It?

When looking at J5 during the Ford 100 Year Racing celebration, I asked the caretaker the same question. Behind the hole is an oil tank with a circular clear window which would give a quick check of the oil level. The tank is directly behind the oil cooler and has a filler tube above. Gramps

It is also worth noting the winning GT40MKII started the race on Firestones and ended the race on Goodyears due to the wet weather conditions.
