    Speedhut gauges

The GPS speedo being the primary instrument for, well speed, I am a little bit concerned about loss of signal in mountainous areas or tunnels. Any issues there? Also, the product info says that it will acquire the signal within 2-3 seconds (hot start). Is that accurate? Thanks for any help...

#2228 delivered but not on the road

Re: #2228 delivered but not on the road (Update) The dealer picked the car up two weeks ago (again). I took delivery almost four weeks ago and have yet to drive one trouble-free mile in it. It's been two weeks now since the car was last hauled into the shop. There are still some chassis issues...

#2228 delivered but not on the road

Gordon, I will definitely call you, thank you for the offer. I have had a friend who worked for me as an A&P over this morning. He thinks it is a fuel flow problem. A neighbor and former Mk II owner brought his IR thermometer over and he measure EGTs. The 4 forward cylinders run very hot...

#2228 delivered but not on the road

It just doesn't work. They said they fixed it but didn't, which really got my blood boiling.

#2228 delivered but not on the road

I am sorry to hear that. No it is not Park Place. The dealer in question is Anthem Motors / American Legends. If what you say is symptomatic for the SPF dealer scene, then some of the blame is to lay on Superformance for not choosing their dealers more carefully. I have send an email to Lance of...

#2228 delivered but not on the road

Chuck, thx for the tips. I think I can fix the door. As far as the engine goes, I am not a mechanic and won't touch it. I have paid $24,000 for the engine and almost $10,000 for the install. Everything is under warranty and if I muck it up then that would be even worse.

#2228 delivered but not on the road

Update: Picked car up today. Fixed: Hardware for side windows replaced. Nice job, except they over-tightened one screw. Not fixed: turn indicator Not fixed: rough engine, lots of back firing and idle stalls What really pisses me off is that they give me the car back without fixing...

#2228 delivered but not on the road

Lynn and Rick, I am expecting things to break, ownership of boats and airplanes (certified and experimental) taught me some valuable lessons. Having said that, I expect a functional car the day I take delivery. I had a mirror falling of the car, an engine that backfired and stalled, a...

#2228 delivered but not on the road

I finally took delivery of my Mk I #2228 last Thursday. A lot of things went wrong, some of which I will not comment on yet because I am trying to keep a working relationship with my dealer. One of the first issues I had was the chassis warranty. SPF thinks the warranty starts on the day the...

Mk I: Mirrors & fitting the driver

Daryl, I noticed today that if we install the mirror on the passenger side parallel with the centerline of the car, I can't see much of the road behind me. I did get a good look of the dachshund on the sidewalk though :) Did you tilt the mirror inwards or did you mount it straight? The...

Mk I: Mirrors & fitting the driver

I think they look great. Are they the flat or convex type?

Mk I: Mirrors & fitting the driver

Guys, Thanks for the speedy replies. I think I will try the inside mirrors. Will advise the dealer that he has to produce the sill mats. Hopefully we can get me fit without removing parts of my body :)

Mk I: Mirrors & fitting the driver

I was supposed to take delivery of my Mk I (#2228) on Thursday but it looks like the Roush 427IR is leaking oil. So I decided to go to the dealer and take a look for myself. I won't go into the oil leak issue because that will be handled under warranty, but there were two other issues that left...

In Need of a Gulf Car Photo - Details inside...

My SPF roller has arrived (Gulf A with roundels, no decals yet). I am going to look at it tomorrow for the first time. If the request is still standing, I find out if my dealer can stage a shot. Thomas

    Tire suggestions

That's too late now. Chassis should be here in a matter of days. Love your car. I have seen a MkII in Gulf trim in Forza 2. I wonder how the real car dynamics compare to the simulated one. The sim car is very hard to drive. I see a new thread coming on...

    Tire suggestions

Don't know - whatever comes standard from SPF. I guess Avons it will be. I use them in Forza Motorsport 2 all the time ;) Does an extra $1100 for a set sound excessive? I don't know how much SPF allocates for a set of "regular" tires. Thomas SPF #2228

    Tire suggestions

My chassis (#2228, Mk I) should get delivered in a matter of weeks now. The dealer called me because the tires that usually come with the car are unavailable. He suggests Cooper Cobra or Avon CR6ZZ as a replacement. I would appreciate everybody's opinion. Best, Thomas Hertzler

About to sign on the dotted line

That's what I heard. Fortunately my dealer has a ZF available.
