The vintage air Sanden AC compressor should have come with brackets to mount it on the lower passenger-side of the block. I used an alternator bracket from an LS3 Camaro (if memory serves) to mount that on the lower driver's side. If you do a search in for AC compressor and alternator mounts...

it's not in that picture (that pic was just to show how much I had to trim my hood). The round-head bolt is what Joel was talking about: the hinge pivot bolt that protrudes into the path of the hood closing.
