    SLC 24 Howard Jones

Hey Howard, let us know if you do end up going back in May -- I'd love to come out and watch / help with anything you need. I'm going to do one more small track event first (MSR probably) before hitting COTA but can live vicariously though you :D

Hey Hector, I had the cap/lever and flange powdercoated to go with my "want to be Batman, but not rich enough" theme. I do have it set up where everything is on the outside of the spider so the gasket is sandwiched between the cap flange and filler neck. The bolt holes on the cap flange are...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

You're doing a lot better than I did, Hector! Got my kit Feb 2014, street legal Oct 2021, painted April 2024. Great craftsmanship as usual -- it's looking fantastic so far!

    Mark B's Build Thread

This weekend I finally redid my alignment after putting it off way too long. I did an initial rough alignment back before I had the body on (to get the wheels centered/aligned prior to locking down the body). It handled fine on the street and even at the Texas Mile so I kept putting off redoing...

Thanks Joel! Yea I'm glad I took the approach of driving it a bit (have 1900 miles on it prior to paint) just because it helped to expose pops, cracks, etc. and made it easier to fix minor things without having to worry about scratching it. For the windshield, when I installed it the edge of the...

I'm curious if anyone else has run in to this issue: When turning moderately hard to the left with a full tank, I was having issues with fuel leaking at the flange. For the longest time I thought it was leaking at the large o-ring on the cap itself, but when I disassembled the filler to prep the...

Finally have the car back together with paint! I'm cobbling together a video, but in the mean-time here are a few pics. Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out, particularly since I went with a 'track car' quality paint job (i.e. cheap -- under $5K). I went with paint rather than dip or...

You have to orient them so the bolts that mounts to the floor are underneath the seat. Unless someone else found a different way.

Thanks! Here are a couple pics of the steering shaft. It's just a 3/4 DD shaft mounted with spherical rod ends with clamps to prevent sliding. NRG makes a weld-on quick-release adapter. The turn signal bracket is just piece of 1/8 aluminum.

I ended up re-drilling the mount holes for the steering rack about .5" after I got the body/dash in and set the final seat position at the same time.

I just used expanding foam for those areas. Curious what others have done.

I also decided to replace the fiberglass dash with a carbon fiber one after I didn't really like the prices/options of covering it (and I don't have the skill to do a satisfactory job myself). It's still the gloss epoxy from RCR's supplier -- I may do a matte clear-coat on it if the glare is...
