    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

I got all the spider parts (they are about 25 metal sheet parts) and then assembled them together. It took a lot of time for trimming each single part and welding without the correct jig, basically all the single parts had to be positioned together with the windscreen and the doors for trial...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Hi David, the project is still alive and moving forward, I'm just very lazy with the updates. Finally the monocoque is completed with the spider, the windshield and the doors in place. But on these last things I need to do some additional trimming. I have also finished the two seats (thanks to...

Ryans Group Ten GT40 build - Body 5.

Hi Rayan, I did very similar thoughts. Actually I don't have all the precise 3D scan, but the placement looks challenging and may require both a slight modification of the lower part of the horseshoe and to angle the engine. Personally I'm going to use an electric water pump to have more...

Ryans Group Ten GT40 build - Body 5.

Hi Ryan, very detailed CAD work! Just curious about 01E transmission, how does it fit in the horseshoe compared to ZF? I think it may be a little bit challenging to fit it in the available space for the quite large bellhouse.

    New Carbon GTV8

Hi Urs, very nice work! I like a lot your choice for the suspension geometry. Are your uprights/axle custom made or sourced from other cars?

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Hi Ryan, you can find some pictures of this solution in Rune's buildlog, https://www.gt40s.com/threads/assembling-a-monocoque.23986/page-4 take a look at post #69 and #70. The second channel looks placed just where the front part of the chassis narrows, with an L folded bracket with the nut...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Yes, the alternator is the only thing I need to drive (no servo or A/C). For the battery I'm still considering what to do. My original idea was to stay with the road car placement near the left fuel tank, but recently I'm considering to put it at the passenger foot. This second option may...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Hi Ryan, I have around an in-line Craig electric water pump and I want to use it in my project. To simplify the connection to the engine I decided to use a standard sbf water pump with the front flange for the pulley removed and sealed with a plug, so I can use the water pump connections for...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

And finally the progress for the monocoque. Panels fabrication is almost finished, but the assembly take a huge amount of time, and I still have to do a lot of welding and trimming! At least one more year before seeing the front part completed...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

The 302 short block is now a long block, next step is to source the intake manifold for the quad webers. I also spent a lot of time looking around for the original air vents but they are really rare, so I opted for 3D printing the internal parts and to mount them into Capri's air vent houses.

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Quite a long time from the last update... still mainly working on the chassis but I dedicated some time to finalize some other bits. The first one is the gear shift, the more complex parts were fabricated with a 5-axis CNC, not casting as for the originals. The shift knob comes from ebay, I...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Sorry Kyler, they are not for sale. Moreover my drawings are customized to suite my fabricatin workflow and tools, probably not very useful and quite a messy for everyone but me. If you want there is an old thread by another user, https://www.gt40s.com/threads/recreated-fav-prints.54112/...

Ryans Group Ten GT40 build - Body 5.

Hi Ryan, my handbrake was originally in a similar condition to the good one in your picture. I didn't removed the rivets, I just removed the old grip (that was already splitting) and I used a common paint stripping product. Then I did a DIY electrolytic rust removal and finally zinc primed.

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Hi Ryan, thank you for the link, actually I bought it some years ago, I just controlled and the seller is the same, even if at that time he was offering it on ebay. I have never tried to fit it, I'm waiting to black paint the handbrake before, however it looks good and definitely a much softer...

    Ago's scratchbuilt GT40 Mk I

Construction is progressing slowly, the rear part of the chassis is almost finished as well as the rear suspensions. Wishbones and links should be close to the original design, while I'm using my own steel uprights to take Audi hubs and bearings (in the meantime I managed to get a quite decent...

FS EU Hartwell style latch for the GT40

Hi Otto, just want to thank you for the nice deal, the set I have received is simply spectacular, a very good part on my shelf to complete my project.

MK1 single fuel filler at Le Mans 1966

Wow, I just spent five minutes looking to the picture for seeing what you mean! So both systems on MK1 and MK2 looks requiring a similar change in the chassis design to accommodate the lower crossover pipe and no need to think to something different. Thanks, Agostino

MK1 single fuel filler at Le Mans 1966

Hi Ryan, yes, your thread actually triggered my curiosity too. In the picture you reported in the first post of 1040, the crossover pipe looks very similar to the Gulf one (I have in mind the 1076 recreation on the Gelscoe website for these details). This system in a standard MK1 requires a lot...

MK1 single fuel filler at Le Mans 1966

Just a curiosity on MK1 race car specs and the single fuel filler system starting from Le Mans 1966. Looking to some pictures of all the GT40 equipped with a single fuel filler, Gulf JWA chassis looks clearly having a crossover pipe in the cockpit for connecting the fuel tanks together. This...

some help for registration in ITALY

Ciao Enrico, unfortunately your problem seems quite difficult, I took a look to italian regulation some years ago before starting my project and our country is definitely not friendly even to import a regular GT40. There are some kit car importers in Italy who claimed in the past that they can...
