    Alex's SLC build thread

Ahhhhh the old my steering wheel is off center debate. Just for sh..ts and giggles check out a few of the cars you either drive or have access to. You will most likely find a lot of steering wheels off center from the seat. As a matter of fact there are hundreds of thousands of them driving...

SL-C - tub to body screws

On my SLC I used a 1 1/2 inch flat bar 1/8 thick with 5/16 floating nut plates attached that is slipped in from the rear wheel well area on top of the body lower lip which was sitting on top of the chassis tub. I then bolted each side with 4 stainless steel 5/16 bolts through a thin stainless...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

Good idea. I noticed this motor is mounted off to the left, is it a 90 degree operation?

    How to mount pedal slider?

I mounted my adjustable pedals using 3/8 flatheads with a 6x12 3/16 stainless steel plate under the chassis. I drilled lightening holes in the stainless plate. Your concern about the nuts hanging off is very valid as the bolt threads have bottomed out at times. At first I was concerned but then...

    New Transaxle Option

It sounds like your describing an automatic with paddle shifters. If so that's different from a true sequential trans (like a motorcycle ). Or was it a paddle shift with a dual clutch. I've driven r8's and an F430 with a dual clutch and they are awesome almost made me feel guilty preferring a...

Looking closer at this engine option

Oh the confusion of compression ratio and super/turbocharging. The ultimate goal is how much fuel and air is in the cylinder at time of detonation. A top fuel dragster runs approx 6.5 to 1 compression ratio with ALOT of boost. Hence a relatively large combustion chamber with a heck of a lot of...

What is the largest engine that can fit in the SL-C?

Remember you'll need a transaxle that can handle the torque.

    SLC Bump Stops

Curious to know if anyone is using puck style bump stops on their shocks to limit bottoming out. The roads in northeast Pennsylvania are third world quality at best. I upgraded the rear spings to 850 lbs and didn't want to go any stiffer. I'm at 4" frt and 4.5" rear ride heights. So far my...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

CONGRATS TO YOUR FAMILY! Building the SLC is a great accomplishment but I'm sure you know you'll never be more proud than of your family's accomplishments. That being said wait until that random stranger refuses to believe that you built your car. My wife took my iPhone to the shop for a new...

Severe rear end wobble on hard accel

I swapped the links today in different combinations.I have 5 sixteenth washers stacked on the bottom of the long link. Ended up with about 0.2 degrees less angle on the tow arm than the upper control arm with zero toe at 4.5 inched rear tire height. I was limited on how much I was able to...

Severe rear end wobble on hard accel

Thanks Howard. I’ll be busy this weekend. It is interesting that a inch or so could affect the bump steer so much. But I’m confident there is sound engineering applied with the design based upon the excellent overall package the SLC is as well as the other products RCR produces.

Severe rear end wobble on hard accel

I received advise from a gentleman that’s intimately involved with the development and manufacturing of the SLC. I was advised that the spacers that are held in double shear arrangement for the rear toe links may be installed incorrectly. Sure enough I have to larger spacer at the top and the...
