Kurt H (hoffkm) SL-C build thread

Josh has my tune dialed in just about perfect so I felt safe driving the car a further distance and I took her to the Cars and Coffee of the Upstate this morning. It is a large, monthly car show here in Greenville in the parking lot of the Michelin Headquarters. As I drove into the show early...

Kurt H (hoffkm) SL-C build thread

As the home build drags on I have needed some "car therapy". I have found a tuner that I am working with to get my Holley in line with my setup. I initially I had a major issue somewhere in my engine setup but with the help of Josh Anderson from Upstate Performance we have been able to put in...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

Looks good Hector! From your pic of the finishing touches above I can see that you spent A LOT of time getting your paintjob just right after the fact. The rear clam is shining like a mirror. Nice job!!

This is exactly my plan for my interior. Good to see that I now know an expert at this process. I will be looking you up for pointers when the day finally comes that I get to this part of the build! Nice work!! Sorry to hear about you painting issues. Even a decent paint job takes A LOT of...

Just realized I have not posted in a long time. This is not directly a SL-C update with progress but it is progress on our new home and more importantly my new workshop. First, 2024 was a busy year for me/us with the move from Ohio to South Carolina and all. In June of this past year just as...

Hector, My rear view camera is currently on the roof and the rear spoiler blocks too much of the view behind the car I have found. I plan to move my camera to the rear spoiler to see better directly behind the car to judge distance behind me and to back up and park. Car is in storage and the...

Scott, I purchased my flywheel and clutch from Fran. You will need a LS flexplate for an automatic transmission to go with it on your LS3 and a standard LS starter. The clutch I am running is also available on Rockauto. It is a basic Porsche clutch for a G96.01. My G96.01 has 3.44 gears...

Alex, Just as further confirmation, I had to clear my front clam same as Mark. I used a socket head should screw for my door hinge pivot point which allowed some more clearance than a head hex bolt but not as much as a button head cap screw.

Alex, I used the sharpie marks placed by RCR on my spider. Here are some pics of how mine turn out. You are welcome to pull measurements or create a template off of my car if that will help.

Alex, It looks like you have verified the doors fit. That is good. I would suggest doing a rough fit and checking the front and rear clams. If that all looks good I would call it good. I can help you out with that if you are stilling plan to be working on things this coming weekend.

Just to show how I did my cutouts, etc. I do not see anything in particular that is not working out for you, wanting to share options on trimming, etc.

Not saying I did everything the best way but maybe it is time to review my car to get ideas for your build. Now that it is getting cooler we will try to make time to pull my car out of storage.

Oh happy day!!:) My title came in the mail today. Next up is yet another trip to the DMV for a license plate, a professional tune by Hawk's Performance in Easley, SC and then look out Upstate SC!! Title process is very easy in South Carolina: 1) attach a VIN number tag to the frame on your...

I had them manufactured at a local sheetmetal shop that we utilize at my workplace. I know of a couple small shops in and around Greenville that should be able to help you out. Since my car is just sitting waiting on it's title we can pull my seats and brackets out and you can see how my...

Alex, I have a design for custom seat brackets. We can custom design a set for your seat angle based on what you decide for mounting. Yes, you will most likely end up with quite a collection of parts you decide to not use in your build. Brake lines look good!! Nice work!
