    RCR40 cooling system tube insulation

I used Thermo-Tec Thermo-Shield Tape #13995 from Summit. Probably other sources for it as well. 2" X 50' adhesive backed roll. I wrapped it around each tube like you would tape a hockey stick. I think the tubes are stainless but someone else would have to verify that. Rod

    RCR 40 MKII Difficulty.

Dave & others. Daniel came & visited me during my build which at the time was maybe 75% complete. He looked the car over, sat in it and asked a lot of good questions. I believe that I was open and honest with my responses & feelings. He then went home to think. Daniel is a VERY young man...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Hi Sean, Everything is looking great! What are you using for attaching your windows? On mine, I've drilled & tapped for #6 screws. However, I had trouble with the fiberglass lip not being quite wide enough in a couple of areas. Lower part of the headlamp covers for one, but especially the...

GT40 or FORD / side stripe

I guess that with these cars it's just a matter of personal taste. What looks good to you? It's not a GT40, or a FORD GT, or even a FORD for that matter. As for me, I spent some time looking at a lot of pictures. I decided I liked the look & simplicity and just had 'FORD' put on my side...

How far into the build before paint?

Pat, Shortly after I received my car, I took it to my painter to have a look at it and do some preliminary stuff. After that, I retrieved it and built the car to about 95%. I put 100 miles on it recently and sorted a couple of things out. 2 weeks ago I drove it over to the painter for some...

    Steve's RCR GT40 Build

Steve, Nice job solving a problem using a rather interesting bit of machining! Ya gotta love ingenuity! How many of those Dremel discs did you go through to do that? Rod

I wouldn't put that past her. She's the one who said we should build a GT40.

Rick, Soooo tempting. This would make a great Christmas present for my wife. Too bad I've already exceeded my holiday budget. Cheers, Rod

    Roll bar

Oops, I may have spoken too soon. Yes, it appears Steve doesn't have the same thick spacers as I do, but now I see he has the rollbar shimmed at the bottom rear. Adding those spacers would only make matters worse. So... something else is not right here. I'll take some measurements of that...

    Roll bar

Fran/Bill @ RCR, Unless something has changed since I received my car, I think you need to send Steve 4 of those thick steel spacers (qty 2 each side) that go between the firewall and the rear roll bar support. This should get the firewall & roll bar where they should be and resolve his dilemma.

    Steve's RCR GT40 Build

Andres, I don't think there are any cons to applying paint to the aluminum unless of course you just don't like the look of it. However, because it will oxidize, you should coat it with something. If you like shiny, then put a product such as Sharkhide on it. Very easy to apply, I used it on...

    RCR40 Shifter w/ZF 5DS-25-2

Terry, Thanks for the reply. That's a really nice looking bit of kit that you hacked together from some stuff you had laying around. Wish I had the talent & resources to do things like that. As it happens, I did resolve the issue with my shifter. The aftermarket shift knob was keeping the...

    RCR40 Shifter w/ZF 5D-25-2

Update: After a bit of sleuthing, I discovered the problem was with the aftermarket shift knob I had installed. Not understanding initially how the up/down movement of the shifter shaft functioned, and in order to orient the knob in the proper position, I had put some spacers inside the knob...

    RCR40 Shifter w/ZF 5D-25-2

Chris, Thanks for the feedback and verifying my assumption about the shifter shaft. I can now investigate to see why it isn't compressing. Afterwards, I'll call to discuss your 'tricks'. Rod

    RCR40 Shifter w/ZF 5DS-25-2

I'm have a little trouble understanding exactly how this shifter works. Namely how to get it in reverse gear. I was assuming that, because the shifter shaft seems to be spring loaded, it would need to be pushed down and then pulled back so that the pin on the shaft would clear the boss on the...
