Registration Dilemma - No engine serial # on receipt

Steve, Michigan requires that a police officer come to your residence and do a safety inspection on your car. There is a list of requirements that he checks off as he inspects the car. A state police officer did my FFR Cobra replica. He arrived, looked at the car and said, "nice car, where...

Thoughts on a side mirror alternative

My roof mounted rear camera has completely eliminated blind spots! By the time the car alongside me is out of range of the image on the mirror, I'm picking it up in my peripheral vision.

Safir starter clearance to frame? Starter hole cover plate from RCR.

Pat, I have an RCR40, sbf with the Safir sbf clutch package. There was no need to cut any holes in the chassis for this installation. However, I did have to modify my oil pan for clearance to the starter. And I also cut the ears off the bottom of the bellhousing because it was perilously...

    Ron McCall rebuilding ZF’s

Ron is a #1 class act, and the guy to go to for any ZF work. I recently had the pleasure to meet both Ron and his wife when I went there to have the 5th gear ratio in my ZF changed. I was initially worried about the modification's time frame when I delivered my ZF and saw the number of...

    Engine ID help

Not sure either what the 24 means. The A in D9AE signifies the Ford carline. Each carline had its own letter assigned. However, just because it has an A in the prefix doesn't preclude it from being used on other carlines too. The E naturally is for Engine Division. Therefore a part number...

    Squealing V-Belts

Ian, I think so. I'm using Gates automotive ribbed V-Belts and the alloy pulleys are from CNC & Sanden. I believe pretty much all standard stuff. The bottom of each pulley's 'V' appears shiny new, while the sides show scuffing which tells me that the belts are riding the sides. Rod

    Squealing V-Belts

OK Guys, WOW! Much appreciative of all the suggestion for trying to resolve this issue. I think while I've got the thing apart and have access to everything, I'll scuff some pulleys, use some Door-Ease, and install a couple of new belts. Fingers crossed. Thanks to this Forum and especially...

    Squealing V-Belts

Jerry, no belt = no squeal. Probably not an option in my case.

    Squealing V-Belts

Dave, thanks for the suggestion. Does this stuff really work? Last time I tried this was on my '55 Dodge when I was in high school. It actually made the squealing worse! Although I'm sure there have been improvements in it over the years. Maybe last ditch effort.

    Squealing V-Belts

Brian, WOW! I love it. Those pullies look great. I'll add this to my list of possibilities. Paul, thanks for the info. Battery is fresh & pulleys aligned. I'll use the jumper to test the Alternator ground.

    Squealing V-Belts

I'm contemplating changing my squealing, screeching, embarrassing GATES V-belts for another manufacturer. Nothing worse than, starting the car up in front of a bunch of parking lot admirers and, having those belts outdo the exhaust. I've aligned and re-aligned. I've tightened & loosened...

Adjustable throttle cable mount for sliding pedals

Chet, Thanks for chipping in on this. Your pics of the fabricated bracket are much clearer than mine and, yes, I used steel for the bracket. I also have to give credit to a certain prototype engineer from a major manufacture who helped me figure this out. Rod

Adjustable throttle cable mount for sliding pedals

Steve, I don't have a Borla, but this is how I accomplished my Adjustable Pedal vs. Accel Cbl dilemma on my 363ci carbed LH drive RCR40 : Wilwood Throttle Linkage Kit 340-12412 & Lokar Throttle Cable TC-1000HT96 (Your length might vary). From the engine, I ran the Cable through the firewall...

    AutoVenture USA

Here's a big 'Thumbs up' for one of the great suppliers on this forum. 2 years ago I ordered one of their SAE threaded Walnut Shift Knobs for my RCR shifter. As it turned out, I never installed the Knob, planning to do so after my car was finished. Since then, I have decided to go a different...

    RCR40 Steering Column

I think I got somewhere between 3- 4" of collapse on mine. But I didn't run my shaft(s) the same as Bryan did. My column runs straight through to the steering gear, splitting the clutch & brake pedals, with a dbl u-joint at the gear. Of course, it is cut in the middle to allow for the sleeve...
