    Darius - RCR GT40 MK1 Build

My understanding is that if the car will be primarily street, then 5^, but if the priority is track performance, then 6^. RCR recommends a compromise of 5.5^. The more caster, the greater the steering wheel effort, especially at low speeds, i.e., parking. That extra effort can reduced with a...

And so it begins... my Lancia 037 tribute build

I fell in love with the Lancia when I was stationed in South Wales back in the 70s. Still love it.

    Chuck and Ryan's RCR Build

Chuck, Thank you very much. I will follow your many examples of using mock ups and templates, but having these drawings as a starting point will make it much easier.

    Chuck and Ryan's RCR Build

Chuck, Any chance that you have some dimensions for the expansion tank? Also, is the back angle the same as the firewall (13 degrees) or did you match it to the wings? Cheers, Randy

Best practices for keeping heat in header pipes?

I am going to going to give this a try. If anyone has prior experience please share. BTW, i spoke with a tech at JetHot about how they do the internal pipe coating and while he didn’t come right out and say it, he agreed the only way to apply ceramic coating on the inside is to cap off the ends...

    Steel spider

Dave, thx for letting me know. The pillars are strong, so guessing 16 or 18 gauge. I will take measurements and post more pictures when I return to Austin at the end of February. Cheers, Randy

    Electric Water Pump How to.

Another attempt. I used John Howard’s drawing as a starting point. This one is a bit less complex. I have not figured out how to turn on the water pump without going through the controller. I think need to apply 12v to the grey/red and ground to the grey/black wires on the pump. I am going send...

    Electric Water Pump How to.

Not an expert, but my understanding is it doesn't matter if 85 or 86 is grounded. Likewise 30 and 87 are interchangeable. Convention is grounding 85. Some signal inputs are positive voltage so if you're trying to stay with the conventional pin 85 input, then 86 is ground, but you can just as...

    Electric Water Pump How to.

I updated my Cooling System Circuit diagram before I saw John Howard’s drawing so will likely update it again. I added the A/C Trinary switch, pump and fan indicator lights, manual override, and radiator outlet temp switch with a potentiometer. The Tiny CWA has to go to Pin 85, while the delay...

    Electric Water Pump How to.

Ian, Thx much. I am new to EWPs and rear engine cars with the radiator up front so please bear with me. I don’t know where the high/low temp reading is coming from that you referenced. I am guessing a temp sender in the intake manifold. If so, then I assume the fans will run when the engine is...

I will give Dave first option to buy since it was his post I responded to. If he is not interested, then they are yours.

    Electric Water Pump How to.

I have been trying to figure out the EWP coolant system electrical setup. Below is my first attempt. I am not any sort of wiring wizard so there are bound to be issues or concerns. I am using the Pierburg CWA 400, the TinyCWA controller from Techmotive and a relay with up to a 10 minute delay...

    Steel spider

I have some steel B-pillars that I was told were going to be used to repair a steel spider back in the sixties. I have no documentation. The backs are steel plate. The tops and bottoms are open. Unfortunately, i don’t have a backside picture. I sand blasted one of them because I was considering...

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Sorry, I didn’t pay attention to the depth and stashed the documentation who knows where. The pump that comes with the kit requires a tank. Stance sells a larger pump. Unfortunately, I don’t know the part number, but it is quite a bit larger. This picture came from Don Pirre.

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

I am using the 110mm cups. I am only installing them on the front. BTW, they sell a larger pump so that the tank is not required.

    Darius - RCR GT40 MK1 Build

Those holes were included on my RCR40 free of charge, and they are almost worth it. They need to be enlarged to be useful. It does make assembly easier. I am going to cover mine with some aluminum sheet that is bent to shape and then screwed on at the corners.

    Electric or mechanical water pump?

There’s some room on the DS below and in front of the AC compressor, but it is tight and the pump’s orientation is more awkward. I plan to use the DS for my remote oil filter mount. Even if the oil filter is mounted in the back, it’s easier if the lines go forward first to avoid the engine mount.

    Electric or mechanical water pump?

Pat, I will post the files here after I prove to myself it works. That will be in about a month as I have trips to Japan and Las Vegas coming up. I am also looking into installing a cross brace that runs from side to side in front of the engine. The idea is to position the pump slightly to the...
