I do believe Ken Atwells first car was red and had a 1.6 Ford Escort engine. Also a MKIII I believe? It was the car featured in his brochure so it should be easy to identify if it hasn't been altered.

There was also a Renault V6 version IIRC a bit later.

I remember talking to Ken about it shortly after he announced the kit as I was well interested.

Haven't seen the one on EBay so I don't know if that was the original one.

I can't see how they can prove the provenance, I don't think that Ken was that much into chassis nos. etc. He probably sold a few that ended up with the Escort and I also think that many of them are still out there unfinished!!

Would be interesting to see if it has the original chassis though... easy to spot.

Agree on the provenance issue. However, I have a write-up on his first red car with small Ford engine, in Kit Car magazine (at the start of the GT40 replica boom).

I am fairly sure that my chassis is a redesign of the original KVA. I'm going back damn near 25 years here. What I have is very similar to the Tornado chassis - (Great minds think alike?) It was decided by the rebuilder that the KVA spaceframe was a load of s*^t. Main problem was a lack of front turning circle. However, to satisfy Australia's quirky 'sales tax' rules, my chassis now carries the number of this original chassis. No is G40891T'. If anyone can throw any light on where this number appears in the scheme of things, I would be most appreciative.

There was a set of modified front and rear sub-frames/suspensions developed by GTD to improve the KVA suspension, as per this picture.
