I was fine with getting old until I stumbled across this place, which made me wonder if all older white guys who like cars turn into caricatures of Archie Bunker (google it, American idiom).

Plus, I thought you Brits aged more gracefully than us without all the screaming and yelling about dirty immigrants and unholy Muslims. All in all, and given the history, plus a few hiccups, minor by US standards, I do not think we have done too badly at all.

As for where you personally live, how many different ethnic cultures are in your neighbourhood presumably in or near Raleigh NC?

I do know a fair amount -- book learning only though -- about the British. Fine people, world leaders in lots of things, and of course our brothers in democracy, capitalism, cars, and beating the Germans. But I still have plenty to learn, no doubt.

Yeah, I saw you island types still have like 94% of the population white. Easy to xenophobe out when the numbers are like that.

Here in Raleigh-Durham? We are about 60% white caucasian, 15% African American, 10% Hispanic, ranging from Mexico to South America, 10% Asian (mostly Korean, Taiwan, and Chinese, with some Vietnames and some odd balls thrown in like Hmong), and the reast East Asian.

Probably the biggest difference is we have large Hispanic populations in place of your East Asianers.
