Superlite GTA

I think Fran was busy with his move, but I hope this didn't just die. I would really like to see how this kit comes together. I was really dissapointed about the FF 818, but the more I see the latest design releases its growing on me. I hop the GTA will be that much better!

Don't panic chaps......the changes in the spec of the kit (C5 suspension) required a total rework of the chassis subframes ..this takes time.

Sorry not trying to seem pushy I am just excited to see the masterpiece under the beautiful body work!! Will there be two sets of subframes offered pending on which setup is wanted? So a C5 setup or the superlite suspension setup?

I'm pretty sure the Apex will only use the C5 donor suspension to help keep entry costs down.

That's fine if that's what they do I just thought when he first said they were offering the c5 suspension stuff that he would also so their suspension with am up charge. Honestly I was just curious more than anything. With the weight that the car will probably come in at with a mid engine design I'm sure the car will still handle amazing and will still be a very capable track car.

I think I remember reading that they would offer their own suspension as an option too!

Are those cutouts on both sides in the rear functional vents?

I actually didn't expect that based on some of the pre-paint images and the few pics of the grey car. Very cool!

Haha I wondered the same thing awhile ago but I figured I have bugged Fran enough already with my questions and asking about any updates. I love how every so often we learn something new about the car that just makes it that much more BA and proof of the quality superlite has over the competition.

I've learned not to ask for updates but I hate to see this thread inactive so every so often I'll ask a question I've had

I might have a subject that will keep this thread on top for a while; how about the different drivetrain options (I know the only two supported by RCR are the 4G63 and the Grand Prix V8 with auto tranny). I think a nice high revving NA K20/K24 build making 250-300 WHP would be awesome. Any manual transverse drivetrain suggestions…. Something like the Honda Accord VTEC V6, or any transverse V8 with manual transmission (I can't think of any). What would you think would be the biggest challenge? Axle alignment/compatibility, rear suspension geometry modification, mounting location, wiring etc ( I know we are shooting in the dark without any dimension but at least you (and mostly I) won't suffer from depression by seeing this thread without any new post for a week). I know it would be even more work to allow for a different drivetrain but making a custom car is all about creating yourself a lot of work to have a car you like. (we all know it would be much simpler to buy for under 35k$ a used Boss 302, a Vette or even a modded Miata )

So two questions in one post. What drivetrain and what forseen issues.

Cheers!

If I build this car I will probably use the 3000gt/stealth v6 with the awd 6 speed trans. They are incredibly strong even being awd and hold up on cars making over 1000awhp. I thought about a single turbo 2jz mounted on the vr4 trans as well. The supra guys already use power glides in their cars with an adaptor plate to bolt the power glide to the 2jz, in the apex though you would need a custom plate made to mate the engine/trans combo you want.

BTW, I will be using the 4G63 coming from the donor I bought... Just wanted to see what other were thinking and see if there are any good NA alternative..

Stock 4G63 can rev to 8500-9000. Modified engines go up to 10k on steel rods. Just how much higher do you want to rev?
