Doug QUOTE

As for last November, sure, I am willing to admit we made a mistake, and apparently 60% of the population is, too. We don't get a "do-over"...but if Trump continues with his current practices I think the future holds a few surprises for him. Hell, he hasn't been able (or is it he is just unwilling?) to carry through on a lot of his campaign promises even with a Republican controlled congress and if the polls are correct (and we all know that they CAN be terribly wrong...look at who the polls predicted would prevail last November ) Trump is in for more opposition than he currently faces. We shall see at the mid-term elections.

Doug, 3 months is not long enough to give an informed opinion about anyone. For instance, how were we to know that when we elected one President primarily on the color of his skin, that he would spew out executive orders like confetti, be on late night shows regularly being the ultra cool Prez, do his best to staunch US energy independence, party like a rock star, vacation as money were not important, do nothing bipartisan, etc, etc, etc. As I said, see me in a year. You are far brighter than that Doug.

Why is it that you are so spoiling for a fight, given the dire consequences, Larry?

We all think Phat Phuk needs a lesson, but at the risk of an ELE?

Methinks not...

Doug

Why are YOU so instant that Lil' Kim not be confronted??? How ELSE is he going to be "given a lesson"? More SANCTIONS??? By filing a "protest in the strongest terms" at the U.N.? Signing more phony "AGREEMENTS"? Or perhaps ignoring him and hoping he'll just go away or, better yet - DIE?

What's going to prevent him from launching a nuke ICBM once he has 'em when one day he's just ticked off about something general and decides to push the button to prove he can? Do you think he wouldn't?

Why indeed, not enough to loose, and easy to be tough when you fight a proxy war. If the USA was in the geographical position of South Korea, China, Russia or Japan to name a few, then maybe some would not be so happy with the "kick some ass yeah hah"my bomb is bigger than your bomb bullshit macho rhetoric.

I'm not insistent that he not be confronted...quite the contrary, I think he does need to be confronted, just not by a trigger happy egocentric POTUS who is desperate for his approval ratings to get better (if he isn't, he should be!).

Quite obviously (at least from the things you have said in prior posts) the previous attempts by B.O. were less than successful. Phat Phuk will be a difficult person to control because he's just like an Oriental version of our POTUS...strong headed, egocentric, and so use to being in total control that he's not ready to relinquish any of that control just because somebody else doesn't like what they do.

I do think the U.N. needs to step up...a "..protest in the strongest of terms" is something that Phat Phuk will just laugh at. Agreements? Well, if the U.N. presents agreements and emphasizes that non-compliance will result in significant action, then Phat Phuk can just do what he wants...but if he continues on his nuclear journey then the U.N. needs to implement significant "action". Just this morning on the news it was stated that Phat Phuk is now threatening Australia with a nuclear attack. How many more does he have to threaten before the U.N. recognizes the severity of the situation and takes multinational action?

As for the issue with launching an ICBM some day just because he has a bad day, well, I have the same concern about our POTUS. That should come as no surprise to you. Unfortunately, he can't "fire" Phat Phuk, so he'll do the next best thing in his mind and "fire at" Phat Phuk.

We obviously agree on one issue...Phat Phuk can just go renegade and we agree that he will! IMHO, though, the more our POTUS tries to poke him in the eye with a stick, the closer Phat Phuk gets to firing off one of those ICBMs toward Alaska or Oregon/Washington/California...he says he can get one there and who knows, maybe he can now...or, if not now, in the not-too-distant future.

He's a loose canon...but we have one, too. In this case two wrongs don't make a right, they make a WAAAAAAY WRONG!! He WILL launch, just to prove he can, if he continues to be provoked. Trump will get us into WWIII if he doesn't "stand down" and get some help from the international community, you just mark my words.

Cheers, Larry!

(Kim's) a loose canon...but we have one, too.

'Pretty ridiculous comparison...wouldn't you say?

(Kim) WILL launch, just to prove he can, if he continues to be provoked. Trump will get us into WWIII if he doesn't "stand down" and get some help from the international community, you just mark my words.

So...we dare not provoke Kim...therefore Trump should stand down and do nothing...just like the world has done for decades (which is the only action that won't provoke Kim).

Yeeeeeup...'sounds like that ought to be an effective deterrent/course of action to me. That will cause Kim to shake in his boots and instantly abandon his nuke aspirations. (SMH)

Again Larry this is a direct quote from your, as I understand it vice president Mike Pence, reported in the Times at the weekend, presumably he would be out by now if it is going against the thoughts / policy of Mr Trump, or is it fake news.

“We truly believe that, as our allies in the region and China bring pressure to bear, there is a chance we can achieve a historic objective of a nuclear-free Korea peninsula by peaceful means,” Pence said.

Not really, they both act like spoiled little boys who can only get their way by bullying others.

It's better than triggering a nuclear holocaust, resulting in an ELE, don't you think?

Probably not...but we both think he's going head-on into an act of nuclear war, so why drive him to it before the whole world can get the idea what an idiot this Phat Phuk is? Like I've said before, why does the USA think it ought to be able to declare itself the police force for the entire world...it didn't get us into a nuclear conflict in Afghanistan, but it sure WILL in North Korea.

You sound like that's what you want, and why, just to satisfy Trump's lust for publicity and feed his egomaniacal desire for conflict? Where will you hide your family, Larry, when the whole world is radioactive and our atmosphere turns poisonous? Where? Take 'em to North Korea? Good luck with that one!

Get a grip, amigo...the penalty points are just too many...and satisfying this lust for "revenge" you seem to have, or perhaps it is just a pathological desire to control others (like you seem to admire so much in Trump), isn't looking quite rational given the disastrous results we can expect if we trigger an ELE.

Ever hear of cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Cheers??

...we both think he's going head-on into an act of nuclear war...

...but you both oppose doing anything meaningful to prevent/stop it!

...so why drive him to it before the whole world can get the idea what an idiot this Phat Phuk is?

Are you suggesting the whole sane world hasn't ALREADY figured out just how nuts he is and the risk he poses to the world???! What would he have to do to prove it to the remaining few who haven't...and how long might that take? WHAT would be gained by 'waiting' for them to come around before anything were done?

...satisfying this lust for "revenge"...

"Revenge" for what? "Revenge" has NOTHING to do with it. PREVENTION does.

...isn't looking quite rational given the disastrous results we can expect if we trigger an ELE.

...aaaaand of course, alternatively, if we sit on our butts and allow Lil' Kim to do whatever, however, whenever - HE will never/would never trigger an ELE and all will be right with the world for ever and ever...right? Think about it.

Nick & Doug:

Both of you appear to be assuming that Lil' Kim, if allowed to build a dozen or a bazillion nukes, would never use them...'never sell 'suitcase' nukes or nuke tech to terrorists...'never use his arsenal as an extortion tool to get whatever he wants...'would never use them, say, as an 'umbrella' for terrorist groups 'round the world who could then 'demand' that they be given this-or-that or else.

...and yet you both think/claim I'm being irrational.

As I've mentioned before, what I'd prefer to see happen would be to have Kim ...uh...'offed'...by whatever clandestine means may be available these days. After all, "heart attacks" are not uncommon for fat people, ya know...

Of course, that wouldn't guarantee whoever took over wouldn't be as bad or worse than Kim, but, it might give the new guy a darned good reason to 'wise up' for his own sake.

Sorry Doug but that idea is risible...

Probably the most useless and politically manipulated organisation ever..

Well, we both agree on that!

It's a complex issue...and an unreasonable subject. I just don't thing two wrongs make a right...particularly with the severity of the consequences. There must be some way to get international pressure against this Phat Phuk's "progress" toward nukes...perhaps once we can verify a nuclear test, it will become clear to the rest of the world how dangerous he can be, but it needs to be a "world" issue, not one for just the U.S.A. We already have a rep around the world as bullies, taking unilateral action would just reinforce that.

Like WHAT? That solution supposedly been sought for decades. How successful has the effort been?

We already have a rep around the world as bullies...

...fostered and embellished by the lib press and the anti-democratic, ant-
capitalist governments/interests/propagandists 'round the world.

...taking unilateral action would just reinforce that...

...ANYTHING we might do would "reinforce that". U.S. bashing is a world-wide sport...until one or more of the bashers gets their BUTT in a sling one way or another...THEN their tune changes, they do a complete '180' attitude-wise, and the phone starts ringing off the hook at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. seeking immediate U.S. assistance...on the U.S. taxpayer's dime, of course. THAT never fails. And if the U.S. doesn't act I-M-M-E-D-I-A-T-E-L-Y and fix the problem yesterday, it will be bashed for not responding quickly enough.

Personally, I'm danged sick of all of it...and I know I'm not alone.

Larry,

I know you like to assume, and put words into others mouths. I have twice now put a quoted response from Mike Pence current REPUBLICAN vice president (no assumptions and his directly quoted words) on what his so presumably the Trump administrations views as well, are on dealing with "Lil Kim" at this present moment in time, perhaps you are sad with them as well.

I can do no more if you cannot admit you disagree with Donald and Mike, besides there are more important things to worry about, like rectifying the issues my car just failed on it's IVA test. :(

I am, too, Larry! I have already admitted that I would like for us to adopt a more "isolationist" position in the world...worry about our own country and only after we are well taken care of (but, that would have to be ALL of us, Liberal as well as Conservative, wealthy as well as poor, etc.) then if there are additional funds left over we could attempt to help others...but I would not be in favor of granting them monetary aid, only compassionate medical aid and things like the old "Peace Corp" provided.

What I am not, and will never be, in favor of is using our power to bully other nations. I've said it over and over again...Phat Phuk might just well develop nuclear capabilities and that MIGHT be a good thing (I suppose they could use it for peaceful purposes such as power generation, it is a remote possibility, anyway) or it might be bad. Either way, it should not be up to the U.S. to police their actions alone, there needs to be some sort of coalition. Given the number of countries he's already threatened with nukes, that should not be difficult to piece together.

The worst thing we can do is let Trump goad him into sending ICBMs with nukes on the way to our shores...again, I ask (I notice you've failed to address the question)...where will you take your family once the earth glows green with radiation and the atmosphere turns poisonous, Larry? Where?

Doug

Ha! Larry's been busy building a bunker...

My parents bought a house that had a strange basement to it. The story went round it was built as a fallout shelter by a scientist who was worried about a nuclear war in the 60's. Thick concrete base and walls, wooden floor board roof.

To answer your question directly: You know darned well it won't matter WHERE anyone might go in that event...which is why the idea is to PREVENT that from happening...which, in turn, is why Chubby and his nuke program need to be dealt with before he can effectively launch anything...even if it's a sampan or two loaded with suitcase bombs.

Marginally sane "leaders" can be "negotiated with". LOONS like those heading Iran and N.K. can't. In the end, no piece of paper they sign will ever prevent them from doing whatever they darned well please.

I have no problem admitting I disagree with either or both of them on any issue when warranted. I do, however, fail to see where what THEY say (or have said) about N.K. and/or Lil' Kim has anything whatsoever to do with, or has - or should have - any affect ON my own opinion regarding the N.K. situation. Perhaps you can clarify?

Like what? Mickey Mouse, nitpicky government revenue-generating stuff as per usual...or real issues?

Agreed on the first count...not so sure on the second, I think it would depend on whether or not the world recognizes the potential for doom that lies in the hands of this despot...IMHO his potential would make the Nazi Holocaust and the bombing of Nagasaki/Hiroshima pale in comparison to his actions IF (and that is a mighty big "IF") he has what he says and can do what he says. That is the reason I promote diplomatic interventions by MORE countries than just the U.S., and not military action at this time.

Marginally sane "leaders" can be "negotiated with". LOONS like those heading Iran and N.K. can't. In the end, no piece of paper they sign will ever prevent them from doing whatever they darned well please.

We can all agree that the United Nations isn't going to do anything more than whatever is most "Politically Correct", so I think our POTUS should focus his actions on rallying those nations who might be able to collectively make a difference through a united show of force, rather than continuing to try poking Phat Phuk in the eye with the "stick" that is our rather ineffective show of force by sending his so called "Armada" of battleships and one aircraft carrier to cruise around in the sea of Japan. That won't scare Phat Phuk, but a show of force from a multitude of nations might just get through that thick skull of his...although, I must admit, I don't think that there is any greater chance of that than getting the idea of "restraint" through the thick skull of our current POTUS. They are both smoking guns just spoiling for a fight...one that will destroy our world and mankind in the process if it is allowed.

In the end, just to be brutally honest...Trump scares me more than Phat Phuk...just suppose he unleashes a nuke on North Korea, what will the response of the world be? Nobody of any consequence wants anyone to EVER AGAIN use nuclear weapons, at least that's my understanding. Trump doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks about him as long as the radical right thinks he's the best thing to come along since sliced bread. His ego will just get us all killed...or cause us to grow grotesque appendages as a result of the nuclear pollution that will result from his actions.

You know, though...I WOULD support a massive air strike on Phat Phuk's military bases...huge numbers of fighter jets accompanying enough bombers to drop a MOAB on each of his military installations capable of launching ICBM's...NO NUKES, though...remember Chernobyl...it's still fenced off after all these years and that was just one meltdown of one power plant, imagine the world-wide destruction from a nuclear war. Mankind MIGHT survive, but who would want to with all the health problems? It would truly be "hell on earth"
