    Race Engine Advice Please!

I don't know what the 185's combustion chamber looks like, but I bet it's almost identical to the old 289 neads w/ the real small chamber, a fast burn chamber is you will. I put that build above from the first post on my dyno program, and came up w/ ~450tq @ 4,500, and 500hp @ 6,000 That sounds...

    Theoretical Maximum Power

Yea, I love my dyno program....I've been playing around w/ it alot...it's fun to go find cam specs for actual cams and load them on, and head flow numbers. I found a website that has a dyno, you just fill in the boxes and it runs it. http://www.edyno.com/Eng_spec.html I've been changing cam...

using a Big Block vs Small Block

Well if you run that pond block, and a stroker crank....even w/ a 428 stroke crank and stock block, you get a ~450Ci or you could run a 4.25" stroke crank, and the pond block and have a 496ci. And w/ the better flowing heads of the FE's, expecially after a port job on some allum. Ebrock heads...

    460 Ford help needed

I had a similar issue in a vehicle I swapped an FE into. I found that the oil filter from a 00' or so Ford F-150 had a real short oil filter, that had the same thread and stuff as the old filter that all other ford motors had, like my FE, and your 460. I can't remember the exact legnth of that...

    FE revs?

I also think the 410 will work fine!, do the oiling mods. I wouldn't use the long rods from the 360, they aren't as beefy as the shorter 6.488 rods.....the 360 rods are strong, but not for high RPM. AND, your 360 WILL not be steel, ALL 360 cranks are the same as the rest. It's the 361 that was...

    FE revs?

well hydraulic cam and lifters are really only good up to 6,500 RPM, on any motor, so you culd put a solid cam and lifters in, and that woiuld help, and balance it all should be a little better, stiffer valve springs will give you a few hundred more RPM anyways......there's a few ideas the...

    motor questions

well the Cummins motors they put in the 1 ton Dodge pickup trucks, had a mechanical injection untill around '97, one of my buddy's had one, we just cranked up the injector pump, and the thing ran like a raped ape!....for a diesel anyways! yea, I know it's alot of plumbing, I would only go that...

    motor questions

The MAS in your yota is called a Vane Air Sensor, they are found on a good handful of other cars. and yes I know ALL about diesels......from school....and no a SI engine's Mech. FI would have to be completely different from a CI engines FI, but one of these days I will set up a motor for Mech...

    Period correct big block?

oh, I know ALL about that, so that gearbox won't handle that kind of torque then huh?.....oh well, I guess SB it is!

BB Ford Engines - for another project

And if that's not enough, you could use an old FE big block, and go w/ a 6-bolt main setup! JMO

    Used Nascar cranks?

and Nascar really is a completely different ball game. they run 358 CID's BTW, the block they run can only be a dry sump.....there isn't a single oil drain back hole in the whole motor, just fittings in certain places, and the outside of the block looks completely different. Where the water...

    MRE crank sensor

well I really can't read any of that, but it seems to me like it's very similar to a Hall Effect, digital signal, and requires a source voltage and all.

    Period correct big block?

Is the only reason it's hard to find a tranny is because of the engine being in back, and the axle also being in the back, so the tranny is completely different from a front engine, rear drive? I don't think cooling would be a big issue, I think the only real issues would be the tranny being...

    motor questions

not sure how the hillborn is set up, but I was thinking a timed setup, kinda like a diesel is, I guess U could say, just w/o the INSANE fuel pressures

    Primary pipe length formula

well I am new to the site, and already have a good grasp about engines, and this thread is one of the best I've ever read on any forum!, very interesting, and makes sense! kind of like confirmation and clarification to what I've already learned, but never completely sure about!

    MRE crank sensor

does this sensor make it's own voltage like a VRS, or does it require a 5V or so reference voltage like a hall-effect?

    suspension

Hey guys, I'm new to this whole chassis fab thing. It is something I am really interested in. I have a few cars I want to keep the same frame, and redo my own suspension, and other I want to do as a tube chassis. I just came out of Wyotech and being one of the only kids there actually payed...
