Dang ol, according to the supps we had too many lights on the light bar! A couple of hours later four new 100W lights on the bar. I'm beat, time for a burger and beer.

This may seem like a dumb idea, but it helped on a project I was involved with some years ago preparing a car for an endurance race.... We got the car licensed for the road with a temporary permit...and ran the crap out of it on public roads (with chase van stocked with parts and tools) for about 20 hours (northern california and back). The driving was mostly back roads, some stop and go (good for identifying overheating problems), and varied road surfaces. This process exposed some key weaknesses.....overheating, vibration problems with the alternater, a weak suspension mount, a weak shock mount, melted wiring, binding throttle cable, a weak clutch slave cylinder, a couple oil leaks, and one fuel leak. It was the middle of summer so it was hot driving, but very fun and enjoyable. It was a lot of desert driving on back roads where it was relatively safe to run long distances at speeds of 90-100 with a LOT of accelerating and braking thrown in.

Normally, I'd say any testing of a race car on public roads is a really bad idea, but in the case of simple endurance testing with moderate speeds in unpopulated areas, it worked quite well.

This car is street licensed and has been and will continue to be driven on the street to test things -- we actually think what you are saying (if done responsibly) is a very good idea.

Have to say I agree with Malcolm completely. Ready a whole week early - it's unheard of Ron, your day job must be suffering at least!

Definitely not a dumb idea and something I will do with all my race cars if at all possible, tagging them. This one was logbooked and tagged last year and I do drive it to work, gym, dyno, etc. We'll probably be the only street licensed car in the event.

Day job is ok so far. A lot of planning has gone into prep this year and of course with me not racing the points series that helps a lot.

Thanks for the wishes guys. I hope it all comes together this year.

Nothing was done, just a check, it is the same as it was last time. Now, initial setup that was done back in the Spring, yes the alignment took a lot of time but the corner weights were pretty straightforward. The car weighted up nicely out of the box.

And in response to PM's - no, it isn't for sale. Yet.

I heard the SLC was running fast and well for the test day. The weather forecast isn't good though - good chance of rain in qualifying for Friday and the rain will continue into Saturday AM. Probably a dry race but it might start in the wet.

I was just about to ask if they will run wet, I plan on being up there for the start and dont want to show up and everyone is gone, ha. So I assume rain or shine?

I cant wait, this may be the only time i'll be able to see an slc or a t70 up close. Bringing lots of warm clothes looks like a cold wet one. :thumbsup:
