Um, again, they have gotten NO US money. They got a guarantee on a $183 MUSD loan. They are trying to work with the DoE to guarantee the rest. So the subject of this thread is just flat out wrong. Par for the course really.

Why not photoshop a windmill to the roof of an SUV and claim it is the prototype for a wind-powered super-commuter vehicle of the future? Tell 'em we'll employ 3,000 local workers to make it.

I can state that all my girlfreinds are thoroughly satisfied! The fact that there is only one renders the statement meanigless to anyone who knows I only have one! Other folks could be mightily impressed, just because I was 'clever' and said 'ALL' my girlfriends are satisfied!

Ask someone who has bought into something and also bought something as a result, "are you satisfied" and most (fearing they would be ridculed) may have a tendency to lie about it, rather than admit they have been had. Lets ask those same three (or one) people in five years time. See how many still have the electric wonder car.

Those are also the same people who have complained bitterly about our dependance on foreign oil, well someone has finally done somthing about it!

So I read the article.

Government guaranteed $198 MUSD in loans. No word yet that those loans have been called by the lenders. Governemnt did already seize $21 MUSD in cash held by Fisker so the number is headed downward already.

The title of your thread was "US exporting money." Please again identify how that was true when you posted this thread to start with.

Per that article this is only one of a handful of 33 clean energy loans that failed. So it goes -- you have to take some chances for progress. This one, not that good of an idea.

So please explain your point.

Production figures took me 30 seconds to find. 24,000 sold in 2012, 14,000 in 2011 and 1,000 in 2010.

In your customer satisfaction post, you did not mention the actual survey, or how many took part. You simply said that the Chevy Volt came out on top. I took the piss! Call it sarcasm, irony, satire or just comedy in poor taste, It just plain funny to wind you up and watch you go. :thumbsup:

Stop buying the markestista bullshit that government involvement in nascent industries never work.

Get the right wing politics out of government R&D and infrastructure investment PERIOD.

We (and your country as well) have a long history of government fostering new, and at first non-profitable industries until they develop into some of the most successful areas of our economies. The US wouldn't have a passenger air system, or aircraft companies but for the US government. Airbus......entirely privately funded at its start....NOT! Computer technologies, energy sources, and so on.

How energize sources became politicized is beyond me. You look at the cost/benefit, over the long erm, including those pesky externalities (i.e. pollution) and you do what makes sense. And right now, wind, nuke, LNG, and hyrdo make sense. Coal and solar do not.

With cars, if electricity remains this cheap vis a vis fossil fuels, battery storage technology continues to improve, and a charging infrastructure develops, electric cars will make the most sense. May not happen, but it might -- kind of like with the very nascent US air passenger system in the 30s, which no one ever thought would be better than rail, and which rail fought tooth and nail for years as "government subsidized."

The US govenment has a long history of funding new technowlagy, helping to fund industry in new areas that the feel will help our county. This has been incredably successful.

They funded the development of the first assembly lines with interchangable parts for weapons. Ford learned from this.

They funded the Transcontinental railroad

They funded the Interstate Highway system

They funded the early Boing airliners to transport the mail.

The funded the early jet airliners.

They funded the development of microchips.

They funded the early space tech.

They funded the development of comunications satallites.

They funded the early cell phone technowlagy

They funded the GPS navigation systems

They funded the development of the internet

They funded the revolutionary touch screen that provides intuitive interface for iPhones

They funded research into thousands of medical advancements.

Yes and now among many other things, they are funding GREEN tech, we will own this expanding market as well.

There are hundred and hundered of areas where our Government funded tech advances, not all sucessful but even a short sighted person like you can see that a huge percent of the current US economy came from these Govenment funded advances.

Keep in mind the Govenment does not then own this tech, that would be "socialist", they give the advances made freely to Americal business

Mark thinks America would be better off without those industries, he thinks that helping to advance industry is "socialists".
