Yeah, that was pretty much what I was expecting, both regarding the revs = dollars thing, and the usefulness of the 4.11. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I'd be unable to hold myself to just a gear swap without also installing a limited slip. More money.

Super40,

I am sure that the Renault gearbox will fit our cars. They are similar in size to the Audi 5 and 6 speed boxes we already use. We have never used a Renault box in one of our cars and I do not know of any of our customers using or planning to use the Renault box.

Best wishes,

Robert

Would they handle the power of the 302 stroked to 347 ci. I hope to see a response soon.

Hi Mike -

We use a Renault 21T box in a GTD40 mk1 with a stroked 302 (347). To be fair it has the Derek Bell Quaife conversion, but there are a number of standard box GTDs out there with 351s on webers so the box is pretty strong anyway.

Paul,

Robert told me that you could use a renault in an RF. I like that a lot. I appreciate the info.

Scott,

I am thinking about selling my Renault LSD with a 3.88 diff ratio. It comes complete with crown and pinion gears. It is not a quaife lsd but was made by Renault quite some years ago. I have never used it as I switched it for the quaife item on purcahse of the box. This way my box has all the right quaife bits to work together and not a mistmatch of items.

Its history as far as I know it was that it was supplied by Frank Catt to Mike Inglis via Chris Cole who built up the box for Mike, who never installed it in a car as he went for a full quaife box instead. Before then I have no idea of its history.

I don't know its age, and to date I don't know what style of LSD it is eg plate etc. It has a ten hole bolt pattern instead of the regular 12 which is why it comes with crown and pinion gears. I beleive it to be in good condition but it has not been run in a car that I have seen.

I also haven't yet decided on a price that I want for it! But a PX for a 12 bolt hole pattern 3.88 set of final drive gears is of interest to me.

Malcolm, you should try selling that LSD and gears to the Renault Alpine boys. I think it comes from the GTA box. It's as rare as rocking horse manure, and would be worth its weight in gold to these guys. I'm sure they have a web site somewhere.
Regards, Mike

I'm trying to find out stuff about the 302 SVO engine, but nothing I can discover differentiates between the SVO and all the other 302s. Are there books, websites etc which have all this info?
Thanks,
Tony Hunt
