Larry, yes, all of the above. He's proper old school left wing. Says he'd never push the nuclear button, has voted against every single anti-terrorist issue the government have put forward and it goes on and on. Definitely pro EU and while not necessarily a bad thing, he would view the EU as a prime source of funding the construction of his personal Socialist Utopia.

I don't mind socialism, I believe in a caring society, but this guy just plain swallowed all the old red hued textbooks.

And he almost pulled it off.

I would add that it also shows how pissed off the British electorate is the the so-called 'New World Order', and I don't think they're altogether wrong..

Theresa May's new partners in government have strong historical links with Loyalist paramilitary groups. Specifically, the terrorist group Ulster Resistance was founded by a collection of people who went on to be prominent DUP politicians. Peter Robinson, for example, who was DUP leader and Northern Ireland’s first minister until last year, was an active member of Ulster Resistance. The group’s activities included collaborating with other terrorist groups including the Ulster Volunteer Force, to smuggle arms into the UK, such as RPG rocket launchers.

On a serious note, from the coverage over here, I'm led to believe Corbyn leans about as far left as one can w/o falling over...'big socialist...staunchly anti-Brexit...anti-U.S., etc., etc. You name the radical left position and he waves the banner for it.

I was going to post this on the "jokes" thread...but, given the 'sensitivities' of some in the group...well...you'll see:

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate at Bergen Norway.
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone.
xploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.
Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm.
Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.
Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.
Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coast cities uninhabitable.

...I must apologize. I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922 , as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post 95 years ago.
This must have been caused by the Model T Ford's emissions or possibly from horse and cattle farts.

Apologies to those who found the above 'upsetting', 'in denial of reality', 'counter to scientific findings', 'imbecilic', 'ignorant', 'just plain offensive'...or whatever...

The UK has been pretty much a mild Socialist State for many years, as is most of Western Europe. There are many forms of socialism - the Venezuelan model being instigated following a particularly disturbing dream experienced by Hugo Chavez right after smoking vintage camel dung interlaced with Colombian Lottery tickets...

Our recent election appears to reflect much what most of Europe has been seeing of late - the rejection of Right wing politics. It seems we all have long memories.... I say "we" but I haven't knowingly rejected anything, except the advances of a particularly buxom Homecare worker the other day :shocked:

There is a "Climate Change Hoax" thread still going Larry, and your contribution here would appear a perfect fit. Lonesome Bob, the most prolific contributor to that tumbleweed infused wasteland, (a more apt handle would be hard to imagine) could have done with your company and he may even have replied to you!

OK guys, the Paddock Brains Trust has finished evaluating the recent General Election and has come up with the following analysis:

 The Conservatives Won, but Lost
Labour Lost but Won
The SNP both Won & Lost in Scotland
but still Won
and the Conservatives Won in Scotland
but Lost
UKIP Lost but because of Brexit,
they’ve already Won
The Winner, Mrs May, is being told to resign
because she didn’t Win,
and she won’t, because she Won
even though she Lost

Any US guys got any news, gossip, theories about Fitzgerald? Tin foil hat brigade are going nuts over it, if they weren't already....

My take on it? A very stupid accident. Judging by the position of the damage on both ships, the cargo ship had right of way over Fitzgerald, according to the regulations for preventing collisions at sea ( if 2 ships are approaching each other on a collision course, the vessel to starboard has the right of way). The damage to the starboard side of the Fitzgerald and to the port bow of the cargo ship confirms their relative positions prior to the collision. It looks as if the Fitz thought it could cross ahead but failed to make it with tragic consequences, that, or they thought they had right of way.

However, the peanut gallery is alleging everything from an EMP weapon aboard the cargo ship to the CIA in a false flag incident. Tonkin is their battle cry!

Sometimes I think America (and others, but mainly America) will eventually implode from conspiracy theories!

However, it is a rather unusual incident.
