Engineering at its best Jimmy, you are doing a fantastic job.
I hope we will see you at Knockhill sometime??
On the other hand I wonder whether you should emigrate so I am not so embarrassed to get mine out of the garage:worried::laugh:
The wheels look fantastic quality btw, and eighteen months to get to this stage is commendable. I think there are plenty people watching on the sidelines like myself who are pretty excited about this build.

regards
Dave

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Jimmy, as you know, I visited Mirage Automotive works last wednesday, and I have to say I am quite staggered by Ray and Steves total commitment to craftsmanship and authenticity. I am in no doubt these cars are going be THE definitive recreations that leave even the finest chassis being built now by others in the shade, and will most certainly be seriously considered by owners of original cars when their chassis need to be renewed. Just a thought, would a car made the same way but out of aluminum and riveted together be too flimsy?

I know what you mean - I was sold the moment I stepped through the door :). Of the 4 cars currently in build there are 3 slightly different chassis specifications on the tables as the guys are up for recreating an actual car's chassis details rather than just doing a "generic" GT40 if there ever was such a thing. Early Mk.I, Late Mk.I, Gulf Mk.I, Mk.IIA, Mk.IIB all are different in the details, let alone the Mk.III they can do! What's next lads, Roadster or Mirage??

Obviously these two cars have the priority in the manufacturing order as they have been involved in the project since day one and I am only a latecomer, still that gives me more time for my Mk.II research!!

Keep up the great work guys.

Cheers

Craig

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Our stash of parts include some remarkable pieces including a JWA Gulf ZF/1 transaxle fitted to the Mirage M1/10001 and driven at Monza and Spa in 1967 by Ickx / Rees and Piper.
The serial number of this piece also fits between 1006 and 1009 which were originally fitted to P1074 and P1075 respectively.

I don't see a "dead" pedal but believe they were used for bracing in the originals

Will one be fitted?

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

James,
You and your parts guys are the best. I can't wait to see that completed build. Please keep great documentation for all of us who aspire to do something similar( truth be told, we will never get that close). From what I have learned watching your build info is that your car should be as good as an origional when finished.
