Superlite Eagle @ 25 Hour of Thunderhill 2010

Re: Superlite Eagle @ 25 Hour of Thunderhill 2010

car is about to go back out after the row truck ripped the front clip off after a simple off after it started raining. Essentially the race is over for the team so they are using the remainder of the time for shakedown/devwlopment. If conditions improve, they may try for ftd.

btw, the car has serious potential one the links are worked out.

I think that is the GTM to the right. Kinda has changed in shape a little.

This really is an amazing event. Honda . . .THE Honda. . .is running a couple of CR-Zs and even a Fit. There's a Radical SR3 in there, and a couple of Normas (no clue yet what those are). LOTS of BMW M3s and Miatas. Really diverse collection of cars. 25 hours of action, $2k worth of fuel, more than that in tires.

Next year I MUST go be a part of this.

Re: Superlite Eagle @ 25 Hour of Thunderhill 2010

the GTM wrecked bad...looks as if their night is over.

SL-C is still being plagued by electrical problems but looks as if they will be going out again soon.

Re: Superlite Eagle @ 25 Hour of Thunderhill 2010

Looks like everyone is having a blast!

That wing on the SL-C is the gayest thing I've ever seen. Ever.

Re: Superlite Eagle @ 25 Hour of Thunderhill 2010

We left about 8pm, the GTM was leading at the time and the SLC had suffered another electrical issue about 30 minutes before as it was exiting turn 1 in light rain. The car was not on the grid as the race started and the car was not being picked up on electronic timing and scoring for some time after they actually got on course. The SLC looked GREAT but suffered from virtually NO testing time, not hard to understand why the car will not stay running as untested car gremlins are surfacing left and right. When the car is running it is flying, before we left the car was turning the fastest laps and had passed both the GTM and the really cool well prepared Ford GT (first and second place cars?) with relative ease.

Sorry to hear since we left that the GTM crashed out...they where running like a train and had not missed a beat all day. A shame.

One of THE Honda cars took out one of the safety vehicles earlier on, not sure how it did it but one of the cars involved was doing the 'turtle' on it's back in the middle of the infield when it happened. Strange...

So. . . you're saying its neat, organized, and very stylish?

If that wing were any gayer it would be wearing a tight black vinyl body-suit, chewing on a ball-gag and whipping itself while listening to Euro-techno... :D

I'm sorry to hear it for both teams. Only those that have have tried to race enduros know how much time and money it takes to just get on the grid. Entering one is a major feat, finishing one is a victory regardless of your final position. Congratulations to the teams and may next year be better.

Congratulations to both teams. Oh well, next year...

A friend from my MC racing days is the official photographer for NASA events. This link takes you to some pics from Frday. Since the SLC didn't turn laps in practice there are no pictures posted yet, but I did see some of the race shots he took and they look good. Check back for those when he gets them posted and enjoy the rest for now.

Departing fashionably late to the start.

For some reason the system is not letting me attach more than three photos at a time. Oh well this is all I have patience for, for now. Enjoy.

Re: Superlite Eagle @ 25 Hour of Thunderhill 2010

Great to meet many of you and to see others again. The race sure could have gone better for the SL-C crew but the car was brand spanking new and reality can be a bitch sometimes.

I'm already looking forward to next year where this car, once sorted, will probably be the overall favorite.

btw, it looked fran-friggin-tastic and I even liked the rear wing mount. Granted, it would be a bit much for a street car but it looks the business on the racecar. Take a look at some LMP cars for reference, particularly the R15's.
