air filter

I need an oval shaped K&N air filter assembly for a Holley 750 in a CAV GT40. A part number would be helpful.

What is wrong with a round one? I have never seen an oval one that would fit in my CAV. The oval Ford filter would hit my rear glass when I closed the rear clip. Joseph

I got mine from www.SummitRacing.com It is a 9" "K&N Extreme Filter". It came with a 3" high filter element which I changed for a 1" (?) high element so it would not touch my rear glass. I think the #KNN-E-3527 is the 1" high element. It was $33.69 and the rest of the metal housings were about $130.00 which I don't have the # for. Air is sucked in through the sides and down through the top. Can't get much better than that. Someone else mentioned that they had an 11" one in their CAV, but I like to see more out of my rear view mirror so I chose the 9". Hope I have helped. By the way, my CAV has a 302 & a Getrag 016 which may make a difference if yours is different. Joseph

I believe it is a gt-40 intake and a Holley 650 racing double pumper. A Victor Jr. was to high so they had to use a more compact ( lower ) intake. These guys were very good. They had all the correct dimensions of all the parts of the finished engine so when they finished building it was a perfect drop in without touching the glass in the rear clip. I have 1/4" clearance between the glass and the top of the K&N Extreme filter. I can't brag to much about those guys. I watched and helped a little putting it together which started on a Tuesday and was running on Thursday then completed Friday morning, road tested it and took it home that day and have been having a blast ever since with no problems since. Not bad for 4 days. They must be unbeatable changing tires in the pits. Joseph /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
