Armando's oil pan dip stick

Hi,

I purchased an Armando's oil pan and a flexible dip stick from Summit which unfortunately does not fit the oilpan, as the connector is to small. Does anyone know if I can get a convertor, to enable it's use, where I can get one from and what size I need.

When you say "connector", are you refering to the bung on the pan, or the threaded (not sure about that because of the out-of-focus photo) tube that screws into the bung? Is there enough material that will allow new threads be cut on either piece?

I have one on a mustang pan that is at the shop so I can't take a look right now but from what I remember one side of it (top) was a compression fitting and ferrule but can't remember if the pan was a pipe thread or straight. It's hard to tell from the photo what it is as it is a bit out of focus as mentioned.

Hi,

Sorry about the photo taken rather quickly. The threaded tube that screws into the bung (which I believe is npt) is to small.

Hi Nick

Here is a shot of my Amando sump showing the fitting supplied with the oil pan, I bought direct from the maker.

Steve,

Thanks for that its the bit I need. I bought mine direct as well a while ago and had a few problems then. I did not get that bit and am having no response to my email to Armando's. I will try phoneing them unless anyone knows where I can get the part elsewhere.

You will not have any luck with email. Armondo and company (his wife) are not really internet savvy and the last time I spoke with them a few months before they moved to TX. His wife mentioned he also had a computer virus and were unsure what to do about it all, so site got messed up too to some extent. Didn't sound like thay had a handle on the computer side of things... Best way is to try the phone.

I think your right I recall the fitting was a pipe thread with a compression fitting with the brass ferrule something like what you might have for a plastic high pressure tubing, it didn't much make sense what or how it was to be used. BUT check out Aviaids site they may have the stuff you need as it is basically the same pan, Canton may also have the part as I recall one of my canton pans has a similar pipe thread bung.

I had a Canton sump with a dipstick to the left rear of the engine. The Canton dipstick and tube fitted directly to the Amando fitting. I would bet the fitting is identical.

Hi,

Having spoken to Armando's it appears what I need is :-

Here I sent you a couple of pictures of the fitting at the male thread side is 3/8" pipe, (NPT) the other side is 3/8" compression.
If you need more help please let me know and I will be very glad to assist you.

Gald you got it sorted out. I ended up having removed one from the pan before it went to the engine shop and it looks just like that. What I want to see is how a dipstick is made with it ;-)

Hi,

Is there anyone living near a branch of Home Depot, Lowe’s or Watts with a PayPal account who would be willing to post the following part to me for my AR oil pan in the UK. I will then be able to pay for it through PayPal.

The part I need is part# A-123 3/8"COMP x 3/8" MIP W/Insert It's a clear little bag with a green line on the top of the bag and it says( WATTS) and then the part number
