Cable vs linkage

I know this isn’t a simple ‘one or the other’ question, but in general, which is better and what did the original MKIs have fitted. Thanks in advance.(Audi 01E transaxle, RHD, RH shift, RF kit)

Hi Dean, Original mk1 had linkage.

Depends what you are after. Probably easier to build the cable shifter but it will never give you the same feel as you will get with the linkage shifter.
