350-400 reliable hp is pretty easy if you rev it to 7200. If you want to turn it 8000 or more 500 is possible. We did one for a vintage car that makes 550 at 9200.
I've always found articals like this pretty amusing. It might be done if you have a machine shop in house, parts at wholesale or less and your time counts as 0.
The engine block in the Ford GT is not the same production block as the 4.6Cobra engine. There are no parts that are interchangable. The 5.4 GT engine was all new from the ground up. Just like the 5.0 Cammer shares almost nothing with the standard 4V engine.

The 4V engine is not only big but it is heavy. A complete 4V cobra engine weights 620lbs, that's about 50lbs lighter than an iron FE.
The main issues related to the engine is how do you want to use it. As a stock or near stock street engine they are OK. As a track or race engine they are not...

The question was asked how close the FFR is to an original and quite frankly you look at them next to each other, they look like different cars. The FFR is a full 4% larger, 95" wheelbase, wider and taller. They also have rounded flared fender wells and the original were very flat down the side...
