Errr Wayne, the UN1 used on the Esprit had a Lotus specific bell housing on it. A UN1 with a Renault bell housing (which is what is normally bolted onto RV8) won't work on you application, so make sure you are getting what you think you are............ Hilly

Personally I think the diesel gearing is much better suited to the V8's NA torque delivery, as it is, 1st gear will spin the rears if you plant your foot at 1500 rpm, wet or dry. Anything lower geared would be even worse.... Agreed, 6th is just for motorway cruising, does make for a quiet drive...

Not sure what the SBF comes in at, but the Audi V8 is about 200KG with all the bits on as the block is alloy with no steel/iron cylinder liners. I have got a complete dis-assembled engine at home so I'll try and chuck it all on a set of scales during the week to get a better answer. Hilly

If you haven't already got the engine then may I suggest you get hold of an Audi 4.2 V8 instead as that will bolt straight onto the 016 (or 01E, 01X) without the need for any adaptor plates. Alloy flywheels and clutches are also easily available. Hilly
