    Transaxle chioce

Hi Nigel. Im just up the road from you as it were. I have a surplus Ricardo 6-speed transaxle from a 2005 GT40 that would suit.

    EPAS (Electric Power Assist Steering)

How about mounting a microswitch or 2 on the gearchange system? Either at the gearbox end or at the gear lever end? You could have one switch on First gear that would give max assistance, another switch on 2nd gear for the intermediate assistance and a tap off the reverse light switch that...

".............. watches and reads with interest, as I have a BMW M1 box that Im about to flip the ring gear to Pantera-type configuration."

    UN1 cable shifting

On mine, I made up a right angle bellcrank mounted in 2 small bearings and mounted it on top of the gearbox on the rear housing. The cables remain straight, shifting is easy and precise, there is no 'bending' of the control cables at all. I used a modified Toyota FWD shift lever assembly...

    Renault UN1 transaxle, everything

Youre right. I did know this, but when I looked at the picture on the 'lotus' link above, you can see a very wide, straight cut gear, which from a quick glance I took it as the newly cut 1st gear you get on uprated shafts. I just went and checked a few standard shafts in my workshop and the...

    Renault UN1 transaxle, everything

Interesting to see that the standard Lotus box has a straight cut first gear from the factory.

    UN1013 leak

Errrrm, wouldnt it be easier just to put the 'O' rings on the inside of the shafts, if its -13 box, the shafts are even machined for them. When you slide the CV adapters on the shaft, they seal up against the 'O' rings inside and stop the oil coming down the splines.

    Manta Montage T First Build

I noticed that too Terry. I would have removed the diagonal brace on the lower wishbone if the trailing arm is being used for suspension location. I guess if the joints are soft enough it wont matter too much but from an engineering view it dont look right! Last year saw a Trike with a Watts...

    UN1013 leak

There is actually an 'O' ring that goes over the output shaft, on the inner end of the splines, that seals against the CV hub, check them as well.

    Inverting/Flipping a ZF

Its not going in a Pantera, its going in an all aluminium replica of a BMW M1, with a Chevy on the front. Special bellhousing cast to do the deed as it were. I'll check the length though with the bellhousing etc and see how it looks.

    Inverting/Flipping a ZF

"reads with interest" I am doing the opposite, converting an M1, ZF box to Pantera configuration.

    Women

Not on this site but on a few other Lotus sites, there is a Kiwi girl on there. Shes a big Lotus fan, having had a 1988 Esprit Turbo, then sold that for the latest Sport 350 V8 Esprit. I have met her on the odd occasion at track days and is not what you would expect, very much a girlie girl in...

Is the right to bear arms outdated.

From what I see of the American Consitituion thingy, is the word 'admendment'. I read from that, that its been changed or 'amended' along the way. And thats how it should be. Just because it was a good idea back in 1700s, doesnt mean it will work in the time of an evolving society. It should...

Is the right to bear arms outdated.

Im rather glad I live in a country where not even our police carry guns (as a course of normal duty). We dont allow automatic weapons and have strict conditions on ownership. Of course the bad guys have guns, and are few and far between, and fight amoungst themselves as a rule. As said above...
