I think there would be a big market for a lightweight, smaller engined sportscar with the way the gas prices are going up. Something like this would be a big seller in my opinion. A compact RWD car with a choice of big bike engined or a small NA or Turbo 4 cilinder engine.

I agree with the dated design. I'm sure Fran can come up with a better one ;). It could do with some better bodywork, but the underpinning still makes sense. Small, lightweight and with a compact engine that doesn't bankrupt you at the pump.

How about something like this: Or something like this: Both are cars made by the french company Leblanc. The 2nd one is a smaller group C type car powered by a turbocharged 4 cilinder engine. This might be a good option with the rising gas prices (I'm paying $8.50 a gallon over here!!)...

How about something the size of an elise/exige with a little cooler bodystyle. With these crazy gas prices this might me a growing market. Styling like a compact group C car would turn me on for sure.

What kind of budget would you think is needed for a self build of the 993 based GT1. I think the one off or limited production bodywork must also cost an arm and a leg. GT1 (also the 962) has allways been a dreamcar for me.

One other question, would it be possible to build a road legal GT1 (replica) like this?

Is that the 993 or 996 model GT1?? Am I right when I say it looks like the stock 993/996 nosepiece is attached to the monocoque?
