New Tremec TR-9070 DCT in a SLC?

    620hp = 462kw * 90% (efficiency) = 513kw 45 min runtime at WOT * 513kw = 385kWh Tesla pack weight 14lbs/kWH 385 + 20% (spare capacity) * 14 = 6,468lbs of batteries. If you recharge at the turnaround you need half that, so 3,234lbs of batteries. That’s rough.

New Tremec TR-9070 DCT in a SLC?

The GTR is wider. That does not look like the large Tesla rear unit to me as those have motor each side of the gearbox. I’d be happy wit RWD as those units pump out well over 600hp and that’s a lot of KW to pump from batteries. I’d also be ok having a removable pack for passenger side.

New Tremec TR-9070 DCT in a SLC?

Bob, My son, the engineer, and I discussed this afternoon. He used CD/frontal data from Fran. He came up with something over 175kwh. I came up with 350kwh. I think somewhere along the line I doubled something I shouldn’t have. I believe his number is in the ballpark. That makes for $30k in...

    Scandinavian SL-C build

The previous one we used was: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Wilwood-260-8420-Lever-Style-Proportioning-Valve,4839.html It gives about 50-100%. currently using: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Compact-Adjustable-Brake-Proportioning-Valve,1979.html Because it will cut off 100% Don’t...

New Tremec TR-9070 DCT in a SLC?

Joel, had not seen the GTM project. We did the math the other day to see what we would need battery wise to make it to the turn around at BBORR in the unlimited class. Just the bare cells came out to $60,000. And then you need to be able to recharge them in less than 2 hours in a town that...

Front tire poke at zero toe and zero camber

That's about right. I trimmed mine to about 1/16" from say 10 O'Clock to 2 O'Clock then smoothed the top edge in. I was tired of tire smoke so probably got a bit carried away! I have fender vents and have had to trim the fastening hardware down to 1/8" to stop the tires from rubbing on those...

    Scandinavian SL-C build

We have use a number of different valves in different race cars. Yes some always reduce pressure. We used one that controlled between 50%-100%, that's probably what you want if you need a valve.

Front tire poke at zero toe and zero camber

Don't forget to trim the FG inside the fender above the tire. On hard cornering the tire does go up inside the fender...

New Tremec TR-9070 DCT in a SLC?

As a software/electronics guy, I think the needed reverse engineering to build a TCU is doable. You won't ever get GM level of integration, but you could build a damn nice unit that functions well. As an example my, then 16yo, wanted to replace the factory ECU in our Lotus Evora. With a...

To tune or not to tune....that is the question

That all makes sense. That's what the turner we use does for our GM stuff. It is my understanding (but needs verification), that all of the GM ECUs past a certain point will support an Ethanol sensor. I've been told you just need to hook it up and set the ECU to use it. That may help, plus...

To tune or not to tune....that is the question

Let me preface this by saying I have no experience with HP Tuner or tuning GM ECUs (other than having a pro tune previous ones I've had). I do have some experience with Megasquirt and have Innovate O2 equipment in my cars/bike - even on the Sprint Car with Mechanical FI. O2 sensors do not...

Don't forget you have LOTs of extra bolts already. Like those bolts through the rear suspension rockers that are 1/2-3/4" too long! I ended up ordering a slew from Aircraft Spruce as 1) you can order basically any length, 2) you have the option of getting drilled either end, 3) no worries...

    slc oil coolers

If you use the heater circuit for the oil coolers, it will get your oil up to temp quicker. I suspect most every engine builder will agree that is desirable. You may also get by with much shorter oil plumbing runs with oil-water. If you run an oil-air cooler, you probably want to run a...

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

I don't know how relate-able this is, but we found the pad compound in our Sprint Cars makes a huge difference. We tried multiple brands and compounds and have settled on what works for us. We run the BP-40s in the back (main) and front (left) and when we run an outboard rear we run PolyMatrix...
