It has been quite some time since my last progress update and I have accomplished quite a bit on the SL-C. 1) I Cerakoted the exhaust. I sprayed them outside this time and let them cure outdoors so the fumes did not want to kill me this time.. 2) I finished mounting the oil cooler and fan. 3)...

    S2's Build Thread

Scott, I have the new setup from RCR and just went out to my shop and stuck an indicator on each side. Drivers side has 0.023" of shaft end play and the passenger side has 0.015" of end play. I do not see any part numbers on my hub as shown on yours. I have not had my suspension apart yet to...

Joel, Here is a screen shot of the CAD model for my seat brackets and mounting/skid rails. The pieces on the top of the brackets are a concept of a filler plate to mount the seats to the brackets. The plate is aluminum and fits into the recess in the seats to spread out the load better than...

Joel, Depending on how much you are tilting your seat and how low you have the back placed you may be able to offset the brackets another 1/2" to get the 4" spacing. I am rather "tall in the torso" so I need the rear of my seat basically sitting on the floor with it reclined as much as...

Joel, Your timing is perfect. Last week I fit my center console so I am now "95%" certain of my final seat location. My bracket design (which is a huge plagiarism of your design) gives me 3 1/2" at the front and rear of the drivers side bracket (gentleman's seat) between it and the tub and 4"...

    Joel’s SL-C Build Thread

Joel, The cross brace in your photo below, did that come with your kit or is it something you added? I did not receive one with my kit but I do have holes in my side plates where it would mount. I have always wondered what those holes were for.

    Another traction control system option

Joel, Interesting option. Thank you for sharing. I need to research this further.

I had looked at Race Ramps and just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on something so simple. The ones I made are constructed of 1/4" plywood, glued and screwed together, with multiple cross braces and longitudinal braces underneaths. I could drive my truck over them which...

Cam, Thanks for the info on the Cerakote. Glad that it is holding up for you. Did you apply it yourself? I coated my LS7 headers after I welded the outlet pipes to them this past winter (indoors). The fumes the Cerakote gives off while curing are enough to knock you over. I have never...

Thread Size for petcock on SLC radiator?

Joel, As Scott mentioned, it is 1/4" NPT threads in the radiator ports for the petcocks. That is the size of compression fitting I used in mine for the hard plumbed vent line I ran back to the expansion tank (1/4" NPT to 1/4" compression 90 degree elbow).

Hector, I am leaving my muffler bodies hanging out the opening about 1 1/2”. This allowed me to install them with no modifications to the chassis supports and brackets. It will also place the outlet of my tips past the rear bumper protrusion so no condensation will drip from the exhaust onto...

Joel, I modified my front roll hop by cutting it at the top and machining up some 1 1/4” long spacers that fit inside the tube to spread the ends out. Seems to have worked well if you noticed it. Thanks!

Took the SL-C to our local cruise night up town tonight. It was a hit. I cannot say I wasn't warned.........."What is it? What is it? What is it? I am going to be hearing that in my sleep tonight. The car show only lasted two hours but I was non stop talking about and answering questions...

Scott, Nice purchase. I personally like the “gear whine” sound. I ran gear cam drives on the last two Harley’s I owned. They weren’t very loud but you got a little taste of the gear whine sound. If the tranny is too loud you can always open up the exhaust to drown it out a little!

Couldn't stay away from my engine so I fixed the rubbing bolt. It was interfering by about .140" I shortened the bolt about .250". All the others checked out good. I am guessing the flexplate was on a hole when I measured that particular bolt and I thus spec'ed it too long. All good now!

While trying to get to sleep last night I had a thought on what my noise might be. I checked my theory out over lunch break today. Pulled two of my transaxle mounting bolts out and sure enough the second one is slightly "ground down" on part of the tip where the flexplate is rubbing against...
