    GT40 3D bodyshell

I'm designing a space frame chassis in SolidWorks. In my case anyway, it would be nice to have a 3D model of the body to add to the CAD model of the chassis. I already have a body so it is not a necessity. I checked on the price of the scan out of curiosity. Charlie

    GT40 3D bodyshell

You're right Doug. I contacted the company in the link I posted previously. It would cost around $7k and take over a week to complete. 1-1/2 days just to perform the scans and another 5 working days to combine the files and convert to SolidWorks format. Charlie

    GT40 3D bodyshell

Creating a model from scratch would be a huge task. What about a 3D scan? There are vendors offering that service such as: 3D Scanning Services | 3D Laser Scanner Services | On-Site 3D Scanning | Large-Scale 3D Scanning I have no idea what this would cost and we would need a "volunteer" car...

    15:1 or 18:1 Rack Ratio?

Mike, I'm using Mustang spindles without any alterations to the steering arms so a 15:1 Mustang rack should give me 15:1. That's the ratio most of the Cobra people use with this setup so I'll try that as a starting point. Charlie

    15:1 or 18:1 Rack Ratio?

Phil, Thanks for the explanation. I'm planning to use '94 Mustang spindles, Factory Five control arms, and a manual Mustang rack. Basically, the same front suspension FFR uses in their Roadsters and Coupes. A lot of people have gotten those cars to handle well and the parts are plentiful...

    15:1 or 18:1 Rack Ratio?

What's the preferred steering rack ratio for a street car that may see an occasional autocross, 15:1 or 18:1? Steering racks aren't cheap, I hope to get this right the first time. I see different units used to describe the rack ratio, a number of turns "lock to lock" or a ratio. What's the...

    Wheel fixing

Fred, Both Vintage Wheels and PS Engineering sell the pin drive adapters. The lug pins secure the adapter and also act as the pins to drive the wheels. Here's a picture from the Vintage Wheels website. Scroll down to the AD01 adapter. :: Welcome To Vintage Wheels :: Charlie

    Wheel sizes

Phil, My body is the same width as yours so those dimensions help a lot, thanks. I spoke to Bob Lacey at Vintage Wheels. He told me that the standard backspace on their 17 x 8 BRM style wheel is 4.5" and he can remachine them to get 5" if I need it. Fred, Vintage Wheels has BRM-style...

    Wheel sizes

Thanks Phil. How did your front setup work out with the wheel position relative to the body? The tires fit in the fenderwells OK? I was planning a 57" front track width with 8" wide wheels. If your setup works well I could go to a 58" track width and have the same width as yours to the...

Phil, What are you using for tires, wheels, and track width in front? Are you using a Bill Hough MkI body? Thanks, Charlie

    audi 016 transaxle

I didn't have much trouble finding an AFC box in the US. It was a little more money than the others though; I paid over $400 for it. I picked up a 5N for a spare for $250. When I rebuilt the AFC I did have trouble finding some of the parts for it. Charlie

Looking for Dimensions of PSE Wheels

Phil, I started with C4 corvette front suspension but it was too long. I would have to use a Corvette style wheel to get any room in the footwell. I want to use a pin drive BRM style wheel which doesn't help considering I need 3/8" of the backspace for the adapter. I found that the...

Looking for Dimensions of PSE Wheels

I imagine that the shape of the rim section on an 8" wide wheel is the same whether it's 15" or 17" so the backspace limit should be the same. How much does the center section stick out beyond the rim on yours? It looks like only about 1/8" from the picture. Thanks, Charlie

Looking for Dimensions of PSE Wheels

Thanks Neal. I may have to do the same thing. I'm trying to spread the front suspension out as much as I can to make more room inside for the pedal box. Are your wheels 17 X 8? Charlie

Looking for Dimensions of PSE Wheels

Does anyone know the maximum backspace possible on a 17 X 8 PS Engineering BRM style pin drive wheel? I'm designing my own chassis and I'm at the point of positioning my front suspension components. PSE doesn't have a web site or email and they're hard to get on the phone. Thanks, Charlie

Follow this link to see what we're up against Kit Car Policy | Importing Vehicles and Engines | US EPA These are the EPA regulations adopted by the MA DEP in October. There's no way a GT40 is going to comply. As soon as I hear more info on the SEMA bill refiling I'll post it here. Charlie
