    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Will continue this in my buildlog, to not distract from the subject of quality issues with the last batch of IDA´s which are currently in the market. My Reco is clear. Check them and if they feature the same issue, i would not use them and rather send them back. TOM

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Did manage to buy another pair of used IDA´s. They only have beend installed for 1000km on a VW beetle and are in realy good condition and most important, they are corectly bored. This is how it looks like when the bores are aligned Nice and even all around the venturi choke Also got my...

New Wheel studs In order to be able to mount my 5 lug mount FIKSE racing wheels correctly i need longer wheelstuds. Originaly the have been cut back to allow the mount of the allen drive lug nuts. I changed the original studs against ARP studs and had my Cousin manufacture high strenght...

    Renato's GT40 MkI Coyote

Dear Renato, it probably makes not much sense to fit the dashboard without the spider fittet properly. Highly recommand to fit all other body parts before in order to find the final location for the spider and then fit the dashboard. regarding the double firewall, i highly can recommand it...

    Rear Hub/bearing Carriers

Aren´t the lugs ( studs) are only pressed in studs ? If so it´s usually fairly easy to press them out and reinstall longer ones ( which can be optained probably at ARP or other racing suppliers) TOM

    Weber IDA Jetting

Thanks Randy for the effort to satisfy the "doubting Thomas". I think there is a reason for my name :-) How did you arrive at this jetting with such small aircorrector. Following the books i would have never dared to even try it. Tom

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Rick exactly my plan. I´m in contact with one VW guy in US already . lets see if we can agree on the price. In the meantime if any knows of a good rebuildable set of italian Weber IDA 48´s. please send me a pm THanks TOM

    Weber IDA Jetting

Hey Randy Are you sure you run a 120 Aircorrector jet. That just sounds a bit odd. Most jettings i´ve seen the aircorrector is at least a 160 up to 210. A 120 would make a mixture very much on the rich side Just wonder if this is not a typo TOM

    CAV GT Outer Stub Shaft

I happened to disassemble mine yesterday. Everything looks like new. Also went out pretty easy. RCR spline is same as on C4 corvettes. TOM

    Fuel Pumps

OK thats the demand. As posted in my first post on this topic the fuel pump should be at least able to supply double that demand. So 75 gph should be the minimum. This gives enough reserve for all kind of real world suction and pressure conditions. Engines in the 500 - 600 HP range should at...

Remote engine oil filter location on RCR with Coyote 5.0lt

Howard of course one have to pay attention to every restriction. From an engineering stand point those resistances created by restrictions add up. So one restriction is not good , two are defenitely worse and so on. The Setrab coolers have a 22mm inlet in which you screw in the adapter to AN...

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Hi Cliff yes quite sure about the fact that it is not a designed offset. This webers are die cast. Only the first ones where sandcast. After casting the barrels are machined. So any offset or centered placement is just question of correct or as in this case uncorrect machining. No changes of...

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Interesting TOM Tell me what on my car is modernized ! 15", no power brake, servo steering , also all my ductings are like on orginal cars. front and rear frame are as well, so besides a almost perfect bodyfit, don´t see anything modernised. Just nice and tidy. The challenge for a german...

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Dave yes i did consider it. The 8 Stack system is nice, but the more i thought about it, the more i got drawn to challenge of setting up a real IDA intake system. I realy want the car to be the same as in the past. Currently i perceive EFI as cheating. If everything goes wrong i still can...

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Dear Randy Agree to what you said but that doesn´t change the fact that they are messed up in manufacturing. would completly agree to your argumentation if the older NOS pair would show the same excentric step , but they defenitely do not. they show a small, 0,5mm step equally around the...

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

SOURCE ???:lipsrsealed: to my knowledge there is no IDA produced in china except the EMPI IDA 48 (51,5) which i´m not sure where it is produced. All what i have red about them , they should not be a bad carburator. Givven the issues with the WEBERS it may be a viable solution. TBH i look...

    WEBER 48 IDA quality issue

Dear all i´m in the process of collecting parts for changing my induction system from Holley to a WEBER IDA 48 setup. I already have purchased a very nice pair of NOS IDA´s from a VW guy in germany. Don´t know where they have been made, because the embossed field after "made in" is kept...

    Jim's RCR Build

Sorry Jim for beeing a bit slow with my comments here you can see how the black nylon part is mounted from the inside of the rear clip. I have used two locaters per side. And here you can see tha stainless male parts located on the sill TOM

    Jim's RCR Build

Hi Jim Steering shaft. Just a straight shaft from the rack to the position where you want it to be, works best in my opinion. Will give a nicer inclination for driving (not as flat) and the most footclearance. You may need to cut out some of the vertical chassis plate to clear and reinforce it...

    Carbon GT mono

Dear Urs nicely done BUT puuh thats something think about. I would´nt want anymore fuellines than necesarry to be run in and out the passenger compartment. Just think about it. even if it is probably some aircraft switch and thus beeing constructed for safesty as well. Would realy recommand to...
