    Mclaren M8b replica (visual)

Hi Russell - The clutch assembly is a standard one as listed for the Audi 016. I bought an Audi flywheel to copy the flywheel detail. In effect the flywheel is the Audi detail on the front attached to the Rover detail on the back, with the offset designed to suit the clutch spacing I ended up...

    Mclaren M8b replica (visual)

I did something very similar. I made my flywheel to suit the rover ring gear on the back, and the Audi clutch on the front. My adaptor plate is 16 mm thick, with an 8 mm recessed area for the ring gear. I also moved the ring gear towards the engine, by 12 mm. Also had to relive the block webs...

    CANAMSA - SA stratch build

Hi Not much of an update. It seems that I've got a bit bogged down in trying to finalize too many details all at once, suspension, radiator size/placement, roll bar shape/height, hingeing the tail and possibly the most problematic being the position of the fuel tank/s. Im not keen to put...

    CANAMSA - SA stratch build

Thanks for further comments guys. Russell, my understanding is that bump steer is only concerned with the positions of the tie rod ends in front view, as the outer one moves in an arc with the suspension movement up and down. A therotical starting point is putting the inner tie rod joint on a...

    CANAMSA - SA stratch build

Thanks for the comments guys. I really want to button down this stuff and start making real parts/chassis. Thomas, I have seen the GD setup. It does mean taking all of the wheel bump loads throught the top upright joint, and I have been planning to do that through the bottom joint. Also the...

    Mclaren M8b replica (visual)

Yea! Like the idea of moving the master cylinders right to the front, I've alsio been battling with that. Was about to mock up top hung mounts but that might also work for me. Cheers Fred W B

Looking excellent Russell, seems you making some of the decisions I am agonizing over. I hadn't considered using plain bronze bushes in the rockers. Cheers Fred W B

    CANAMSA - SA stratch build

I've also spent quite a bit of time mocking up the front suspension, and I'm starting to think about trying to make an inboard mounting for the coilover work. The major issue it will solve is that, with the coilover in the conventional position, I can't use all of the damper travel of the...

    CANAMSA - SA stratch build

Hi Thomas Good to hear from you again, and that you have another intersting car project on the go. As for my progress on the chassis, although I have now got the rearmost section of the chassis and rear suspension pretty much laid out none of it is yet up to the final, real part stage...

    Roll over bars

As for the case in South Africa, I have on occasion gone on runs with a local group of guys and girls who run 7 style cars. On the open road several of them will wear helmets, particularly those with minimal windscreens. We have never had a problem with the law. Its also done in the UK/Europe, I...

    LOLAT70.COM available

As Ron says there are very few people who own real T70"s, and it seems you might be trying to duplicate some of what is covered by Lola Heritage, and even that site is very quiet. http://www.lolaheritage.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=2 Cheers Fred W B

Design clearance between chassis and road at full bump?

Thanks for the responses guys, picture below is with chassis ride height at about 100 mm at the front axle. I made the bottom of the nose a bit higher than that, and I can still adjust where the body sits by changing the height of the lower side pods slightly. Cheers Fred W B
