    Kar Kraft shop tour 1969

Cool Fran, Thanks for posting. I wonder what ever became of those cars, especially the mid-engine red car and the Mustang with rear mounted engine. Slick video!

Nicely done! I look forward to seeing more. Do you plan on using all the parts from your other car or are you just making a new car? Cheers, Howard

    Howard B's RCR 40

Thanks Will. I am probably over working this car if it looks better than the original. I spent the afternoon yesterday shaping the louvers in the demister grill Fran had so kindly given to me when I visited his RCR shop while in working in the Detroit area. Thanks Fran, it worked out just...

    Howard B's RCR 40

More little details: While working in Michigan in the last couple of months I stopped by the Ford Museum for the third time. I was expecting to see the '67 MKIV in it's usual place. However I had a pleasant surprise the 67 MKIV was on a road trip and had been replaced by the 1075 Gulf car on...

    Where's Randy (Big-Foot)???

Randy, Just as Jac Mac said. You will know the right choice. I hope you don't feel bad about it, it is what it is. You will deal with it just like everything else you have dealt with. Good to see you resurface. I have had some of the same issues as well. I think I understand. Best...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Details, details, details... Getting down to my final punch list of 50 things or more left to do. (maybe I am kidding myself!) A couple of days ago I installed the vent windows and the aircraft vents. I also mounted a pair of heat shields to combat screwing up the paint and body. I used the...

    Ken's SLC build thread

Ken, What did you use to hold the rear window in place while the adhesive was setting up? Will the window adhesive tolerate the heat generated from the engine side? Nice job! Howard

    Howard B's RCR 40

Some notes on the undertaking of the paint job. Paint booth construction: -1x6 pine -hard board panels -aluminum framed storm windows for the ceiling (from the neighbors recycle bin) -drywall screws -four flood lamps (mounted above the ceiling) -nice home HVAC filters -hooks and screws to hang...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Jack, Chris and Larry, Thanks for your kind words. I did enjoy painting it myself, but I wouldn't do it for a living, I would probably starve! I tried hard to follow the look of the '69 Gulf car with just a few tweaks. The pictures on the web look darker in color than in reality. I would...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Live the dream, It's been a couple of years since I posted. I haven't given up on my build! Many things have changed in the past two years but the car I have continued to chip away on. I built a paint booth in my garage and painted the car myself. I am almost done putting the car back...

    Henry Ford Museum

Dean, Call the Museum, I was there several months ago and most of the cars were off display :furious: because they were rebuilding the car display area. They had only 15 cars on display, plus the Presidential Limos. The 67 GT40 Le Mans winner wasn't one of them. They were rotating the cars to...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Time to post an update. I have been quite busy at work with frequent travel but I haven't stopped working on my car. I decided it paint it myself so I have spent a considerable amount of free time prepping the body. Lots of dust, sanding, Rage, fiberglassing in the brake cooling ducts...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Body prep for painting... What a tedious job! Thanks to my buddy Bill T. he gave me some stands to work from...saves bending over and I can elevate the panels easly to work on them without getting too fatigued from standing in weird postions.

Whats with all the Cobra Converts?

That's a good question JacMac. I know Ron McCall has jumped in feet first to race a Cobra Mustang in Nasa and used his GT40 to finance ths adventure. I think it is not practical to race a 40. I am sure Dean is still racing, he'll probably never give that up. I am not certain you can easily...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Michael, That was my MSO number, the state of Virginia used it straight off the MSO. Nice coincidence, it must have been RCR's 40th car. What number is yours Michael? Howard

    Howard B's RCR 40

Oh yea, we got a couple of neat surprises in the mail the past several weeks...registration and a VIN. Fran will identify with the VIN it's RCR0040 and the tag nothing else of course would do...

    Howard B's RCR 40

Thanks Tom, I had seen your post before, they are well done of course. I "short cut" it and determined it was more time and cost effective to buy them already molded and they were a good fit...thanks to Bill Hough. The set came with four pieces and I fabricated some plastic wood dividers...
