Chuck you mentioned a spacer. Is it possible there is an intake leak caused by the spacers and the bases of some of the carbs?

    Loctite

Use a hand held propane torch on the end of the bolt, concentrate the heat for about 5 seconds on the bolt & nut on the back of the bracket or flange that secures the cooler. The heat will not compromise the cooler. Use wrenches on both the head and nut after heating. It WILL free up.

    302 Fuel pump cam question

The eccentric can be removed if desired. In its palce use a large thick hardened washer and a shorter dowel pin (in the cam)so that when the center bolt in the cam is tightened the dowel pin does not prevent (the washer) it from clamping flat against the face of the cam gear. Than as mentioned...

    Help! Coolant leak

Is there a bolt securing the water pump that is currently in the hole? If not, it is possible that you have a front cover that is intended to be used with a different water pump, causing an internal leak. I went out and on my early 289 and assorted spares there is no hole in that area.

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Are you sure your idle jets are not partially plugged, maybe bad fuel (if it has been setting for some time). Are the float bowls full of fuel, does the accelerator pump function? I would start by looking at the entire idle circuits, and if there is any question about the fuel, replace it. Check...

    Help! Coolant leak

Chuck: Sometimes the bolts on either side of the transfer holes in the front cover have to be snugged down an additional amount to seal the gasket between the block and front cover. Since it is below the upper level of coolant (below manifold and heads etc) coolant will pool in this area. Try...

Ford Motor Sport water pump failure

Is the impellor made of stamped metal or is it cast? It sounds like the press fit is not sufficient. I have had incident with my V6 2.5 4 Cam Ford that the OEM waterpump impellor was plastic (or composite??) Well known for splitting at the hub and spinning on the shaft at higher RPMs, but...

    Morgan +4

I have a real good friend that just bought a Morgan +4. 1st on the agenda is to convert it to a 5 speed via T-9 gearbox using a TR4 Belbousing and some brilliant machining. Is this done often in the "Mother Country"? Any specialty shops for Bits and Bobs for these cars? Thanks ....Rick

    Autolite In-line

in_lines_003 - Club Cobra Photo Gallery The Autolite inline was concieved as a way for Ford to bend the rules in Trans am Racing in approx 1970. The rules makers discouraged Webers by stating the "Four throttle plates or venturies had to share a common casting" or something like that. This was...

    Autolite In-line

There is a fellow on the ClubCobra website that is running 2 of these on a specially designed manifold on a 427 FE. He made some very nice air filters for them too. I seem to recall a problem with them was the fuel level was above the parting line of the assemblies(??) and there was some...

    holley carb balance

HUW: Holleys are actually very easy to tune and work on compared to Webers or similar. Assuming that none of the internal jetting was changed to achieve emissions compliance, the first thing to look for as JAC MAC advised is an air leak causing a lean condition. If you are using an older carb it...

JacMac: Thanks for the heads up. My oversight. Not having put one together, visually it appeared as though the distributor was vertically registered by the manifold. Sorry:worried: Rick
